Electronics/Wire/Soldering Technician Position Overview: This is a contract-to-hire opportunity lasting approximately 8 months, with potential for extension. We are searching for technicians with exceptional skills in electrical and mechanical systems, who are proficient in reading drawings and troubleshooting, and skilled in using hand and power tools. Having soldering certifications (J-STD) is a huge advantage and will be compensated accordingly. Responsibilities: + Perform manual soldering of electrical components and wire harnesses, adhering to IPC J-STD-001 standards with Space Addendum and NASA-STD-8739.3 requirements. + Assemble and modify electronic components and sub-assemblies, including wire bonding and cable/hardware installation, following engineering drawings and work orders. + Conduct testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic assemblies to ensure functionality and compliance with specifications. + Utilize precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, and height gauges to verify dimensions and quality of parts. + Maintain and operate selective soldering equipment and perform related prepping tasks. + Follow safety procedures and maintain a clean and organized work environment. Top Skills Required: + Electrical and mechanical experience. + Ability to read and understand technical drawings. + Proven troubleshooting skills. + Proficiency with hand and power tools. Soldering certifications are highly desirable (e.g., IPC J-STD-001 with Space Addendum, NASA-STD-8739.3, IPC-7711/21). Additional Certifications (Preferred): Soldering Certifications: + IPC J-STD-001 with Space Addendum + NASA-STD-8739.3 + IPC-7711/21 Harnessing Certifications: + IPC/WHMA-A-620 with Space Addendum + NASA-STD-8739.4 + SMC-S-020 Compensation: + Tech 1: $25-$28/hour (1-2 years experience). + Tech 2: $28-$32/hour (3-5 years experience). + Tech 3: Up to $35/hour (5-7+ years experience OR prior tech lead role). + Premium Pay: $37-$40/hour for candidates with active soldering certifications (e.g., IPC J-STD-001). Preferred Candidate Background : + Aerospace technicians with experience in planes, rockets, missiles, and other spacecraft. + Wire Harness technicians skilled in cable and wiring assembly. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
