Key Responsibilities:
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance on furnaces, slag handling systems, cooling systems, and other mechanical components. Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical failures in equipment such as electrodes, hydraulic systems, pumps, conveyors, fans, compressors, bucket elevators, screw conveyors, cooling towers, and valves. Replace and align bearings, shafts, pumps, gearboxes, and motors. Identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend corrective actions. Work with the operations team to optimize furnace performance and minimize mechanical downtime. Assist in emergency breakdown repairs to ensure minimal production disruption. Ensure modifications comply with engineering and safety standards. Follow all plant safety protocols, including working with high-temperature equipment and hazardous materials. Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations. Participate in safety drills and emergency response training. Facilitate team collaboration and provide solutions. Maintain excellent analytical skills and the ability to work under pressure. Possess a strong mechanical background with good organizational and planning skills. Demonstrate the ability to write and provide clear and accurate instructions. Read and understand standard blueprints, machine, and process drawings. Understand and apply maintenance processes, including work order systems, planning, and scheduling. Manage a backlog of work orders that require significant shutdowns. Follow up with supervisors to ensure timely completion and improvement of work job packets. Provide job estimates based on craft skills, sequence, and required workforce. Solve complex problems in collaboration with production departments, subcontractors, suppliers, and customers. Oversee conveyor belt maintenance, including alignment and tracking. Manage work control status and backlog for work order submission and completion. Verify material, information, tools, and labor availability before starting work. Work with maintenance supervisors and planners to determine resource availability. Conduct shaft alignment and bearing assembly and dismantling with lubrication. Monitor and control contract technicians for labor and asset maintenance. Contribute to the training of trainees to ensure the availability of competent technicians. Maintain lubrication systems and change oil and filters as necessary. Education:
Degree with 8 years of experience or Diploma with 10 years of experience in a related field. Experience:
8 to 10 years of relevant experience in heavy industry, preferably in the smelting industry. Extensive experience in pump and hydraulic troubleshooting and repair is critical. Skills and Knowledge:
