AES CE is an established and rapidly growing renewable energy company headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, with additional offices in Salt Lake City, UT, and Louisville CO. The AES CE Field Service team is looking for a SCADA/Communications Technician with field experience, this individual would play a pivotal role in ensuring that AES CE operates the portfolio to standards that exceed industry best-practice. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, and have the ability to build, train and lead other field personnel. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

Troubleshoot and repair site network equipment failures including servers, network switches, firewall ACA equipment, fiber loops, and device communications (inverters, trackers, met stations, etc)Troubleshoot and repair site meteorological station failures including sensor replacement, calibration, and other station failuresPerform periodic maintenance on substation battery and DC power systems per PRC-005Assist in special projects including site network upgrades, site telecom upgrades/changes and any additional projects that relate to the telecom/network/SCADA systems on siteCoordinate with telco providers to restore data/communication circuits during outages and works with providers to determine root cause of outages and continued fixing of unstable circuitsDetermine strategic spares requirements for networking and telco equipment and maintains spares inventoryIdentify weaknesses in AES CE networking and telecommunication infrastructure and resolve where additional duplication can be built out and lead these projectsParticipate in plant commissioning and hand-off to operations and ensures the proper networking and telco documents have been handed over to OperationsDocument Immediate Actions for Control Center Operations to take in the event of site telemetry outagesWork with substation relays, meters, and other electronic equipmentPerform routine (electrical troubleshooting and repair, instrumentation calibration and troubleshooting) and complex (distributed control systems, Inverter troubleshooting) maintenance work, up to their capabilities, as assigned and/or directed by supervisor and work orders from the preventive maintenance management systemPerform other technical and administrative duties associated with operating and maintaining a power facilityEnsure work is performed in accordance with Environmental and Safety requirements

Education  / Experience:

Possess 2-year technical degree or equivalent Journeyman qualificationsFive (5) or more years of experience in a power plant or related industryThree (3) or more years of experience in IT, SCADA, controls, or commissioningDemonstrated knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as electrical measurements, control circuits, and solid state theory applicationBasic knowledge of operational characteristics of equipment and associated control devices installed in power facilities

Working outsideNormal plant and/or office environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high/low humidity areasRequires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipmentRequires use of wear personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicalsOccasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilitiesPerforms other duties as assignedWork overtime and non-standard working hours as requiredTravel to sites outside typical area
