Our Chicago office is excited to welcome a Technical Writer to our Internship Program.
We are looking for a motivated individual ready to jump in and support our development teams with preparing and reorganizing technical content for software projects.
This Technical Communication Internship will position you to be an integral part of the Siemens Engineering Team. You will work closely with Technical Documentation Experts as well as Software Developers and Testers. You will have the opportunity to gain experience with a content management system and apply your knowledge in all aspects of technical communications in an agile work environment.
You will be asked to research, analyze and organize content using the latest technologies and apply industry best-practices to drive the growth of Siemens as Technical Writer/Editor.
The Siemens Buildings Internship Program is a 10–12-week internship position and is designed to help you create a successful career path as a software leader within Siemens.
The Internship Program start dates for Summer 2025 are May 19th, June 2nd, or June 9th.

What you will do as a Siemens Buildings Technical Writer Intern:
Support business across Smart InfrastructureReceive regular, formal classroom and virtual training in Agile software development, technical skill development, leadership, and develop an eye for businessWork alongside senior technical writers and other program participants to deliver business value on tight deadlines
Report out regularly to senior business leaders on deliverables
Partner with mentors in upper management
Exposure to a global work environment
Apply problem solving skills to document complex workflows and procedures
Develop content with audience and purpose in mind Work in cross-functional team environmentApply the tools and critical thinking skills needed to be an effective communicator in your professional life

Required Qualifications:
Current sophomore, junior or senior undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree with at least one year remaining in their school program. Candidates must not be graduating prior to September 2025.Pursing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
Must be located in Chicago/Buffalo Grove area during Summer 2025
Work Authorization: Permanent work authorization in the U.S. is required

High interest in learning new technologies quicklyStrong interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with ability to translate and articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms
Demonstrated project management skills
Leadership skills inside and outside the classroom

The hourly pay range for this position is $23 - $28. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate's experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location.
