As a subsidiary of L3Harris Technologies and within the Integrated Mission Systems Segment, the WESCAM division develops the most advanced optical sensor and targeting systems for global defense and military sectors, National Security, Search & Rescue and Airborne law enforcement agencies. From long-range covert surveillance missions to search and rescue operations, our MX-series systems, and the mission systems solutions they are a part of, produce stabilized high-magnification electro-optical and infrared images from airborne, marine and ground based platforms, enabling our customers to see first and act first.

About the Role

Develops, organizes and delivers technical training programs and related materials in support of customers and/or company employees. Works with customer and functional organizations to establish course content and objectives. Prepares lesson plans from engineering documentation, field service requirements or software documentation. Ensures course material reflects current product features. Instructs participants in both classroom lectures and laboratory sessions. Follows up to determine applicability of course material.

Primary Responsibilities 

Deliver system operation and maintenance courses at the organizational, basic and advanced level to Customers world-wideDeliver system train the trainer at the basic & advanced intermediate maintenance level to service centers and self-maintainer customersSME resource for the training team for technical knowledge transfer for the Intermediate Maintenance Basic and Advance level maintenance levelDesign, develop, and implement operator and integrated system level technical operations and maintenance training courses for WESCAM customers and internal personnel.Serves as a member of specialized technical support staff to provide input, direction and training to Field Service Engineers and CustomersAssist in the development of best practices for troubleshooting of operator and integrated systems.Assist in the commission integrated systems platforms for customer installations / demos / tradeshows.Design and review course assessments / evaluations, validations, and creative feedback improvement for continued successSupport Technical Publications and Logistics Engineering efforts as required.Proactively interface with ILS disciplines, Engineering, Field Service and other WESCAM organizations as requiredSupport the validation of Service Procedures, as a part of New Product Introductions (NPI)Review of Technical Publications and Training materials, as requiredTravel internationally 30-50% of the time

Required Capabilities

Ability to manage projects or processes with general oversight. Excellent communicator within and outside of own function to gain cooperation on operational processes, practices, and procedures. Must have professional instructional skillsOutstanding organizational capabilitiesIndependent and pro-active work habitsTechnical background (preferably maintenance oriented), in electronics, electro-mechanical, electro-optical and video technologyExtensive experience working with integrated systems in an engineering \ maintenance capacityMust be able to travel extensively to US, and overseasMust have the ability to obtain a security clearance

Desired Education and Experiences 

Requires proficient knowledge of job area. May have practical knowledge of project management. Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.A professional Trainer’s certificate or equivalent experienceFamiliarity with Government training standards, training related MIL-STDs, and UK-MoD Government specifications is desirableExperience in developing technical training coursesFamiliarity of E-Learning principles and technologiesMulti-lingual is an assetExperience designing and building systems consoles / mission equipment platforms is an assetSystems integration experience in an aerospace/ land/ maritime vehicle industry is an assetExperience in the maintenance and repair of integrated systems is an asset
