Technical Supervisor – FMO Division

Black & McDonald Ltd. is looking to hire an experienced Technical Supervisor at our Canadian Museum for Human Rights for the FMO Division at Manitoba Region. This position reports to the Contract Manager and is responsible for the technical building systems in the facility, including but not limited to routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and service/repairs. As a Technical Supervisor, you should have high-level problem-solving skills, extensive experience working with commercial building systems, and strong communication skills.

Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

Schedule, supervise, and monitor subcontracted personnel as needed to accomplish tasksEstablish and maintain strong, collaborative relationships with vendors and other third parties to understand challenges and opportunities, ensure timely exchange of information, and ensure service level requirements are metCount inventory and order equipment, materials, and supplies for the maintenance departmentPerform and review various administrative tasks: Generate and assign PM’s, review time sheets, monitor work order completion, etc.On site scheduling – operator work and on call schedule, and plan/cover vacationsManage new building initiatives – i.e. BOMA Best or SustainabilityManage and coordinate facility utility activities (boilers, emergency generators, electrical units, etc.) Manage facility equipment to ensure optimum reliability and efficiency Develop and maintain an expandable comprehensive maintenance program, which will include training maintenance personnel and establishing an aggressive preventive maintenance program Plan, organize, manage and evaluate facility maintenance and operations, contracts and projects Oversee personnel needs of the contract(s) including recruiting, selecting, coaching, and training employees and evaluating employee performance Manage overall operation of the facilities in the areas of safety, productivity, and efficiency in accordance to contract specificationsPlan, schedule, coordinate, and execute various facility projects and maintenance.Manage inventory of various equipment, materials, and supplies.Schedule, supervise, and monitor subcontractors.Provide suggestions for equipment replacement complete with estimates and proposal.Write various maintenance reports.Adhere to safety and performance standards.

Education & Skill Employment Requirements

High school diploma or GED.Valid Trades License or Certified Engineering Technologist designationFamiliarity with commercial building systems and various Building Code(s) including NBCC.Ability to read and understand blueprints.Good problem-solving skills.Previous experience with Building Automation Systems considered an asset.Excellent trouble shooting and interpersonal skills.Bending and lifting required – under 30kgs. Must be able to work on ladders or scaffolding at various heights. Must be able to work in confined spaces. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required with the ability to follow instructions both written and verbal. Ability to always maintain a professional demeanor with fellow employees and customers. Clear and courteous two-way radio and/or telephone etiquette. A team player committed to working in a quality environment. Able to work independently with limited supervision. Able to obtain site required Security Clearance.
