Dawson Mine
Steelmaking Coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.
Dawson Mine is a large and dynamic open cut steelmaking coal mine operation made up of two operating pits – Central and South. It commenced operations in 1961 and is one of the oldest coal mining operations in Central Queensland. Dawson Mine was the first mine in Australia to export coal to Japan in 1961 and was the first mine to introduce draglines into its operation in 1963.
Reporting to the Technical Services Manager, you will provide effective leadership of the Dragline and Drill & Blast Technical Services teams to deliver best practice technical support and mine planning to Dawson operations.
As the Technical Services Superintendent, your key responsibilities are, not limited to:
Minimum 5 years’ open cut coal mining experience.Bachelor’s degree in mining engineering or equivalent experience.Working knowledge in open cut drill & blast operations.Knowledge of steep dip mining practices, reactive ground and fume management desirable.Working knowledge in multi-seam dragline operations.Demonstrated experience leading a team of professionals to deliver against targets.Astute business acumen and ability to multi-task and prioritise conflicting deadlines and priorities.Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills as well as the ability to drive performance.Proficiency with Deswik, Spry, 3ddig and Blastlogic desirable (or similar).RIIBLA403 - Design blasts desirable.Additional InformationFull-time, permanent position located at our Dawson Mine siteMonday to Friday role with Flexible work options availableResidential, DIDO and FIFO optionsSubsidised accommodation available20 weeks paid parental leaveGenerous employee share program5 weeks annual leave + annual leave purchasing optionsExternal education assistance, novated leasing, private health discountsSite Gym/Health Incentive + On-Site Physio
