Brief Description:  Technical Services Representative for Columbus Flat Roll Division.

Responsibilities

Job Duties/Responsibilities: 

Serve as customer’s day-to-day contact for product functionality and quality performance.Regularly visit assigned steel customers (in pipe & tube, appliance, construction, HVAC, heavy machinery, transportation, agricultural, etc.) for monitoring quality performance, benchmarking competition, and providing verbal and written feedback reports to Operations and CommercialReview steel customer inquiries and participate in RFQs from a technical perspective. Help determine property parameters and steel gradeOverall responsibility for review of customer complaints, claims, and corrective actionsAssist Operations in troubleshooting and correcting quality issuesProvide technical support to customer’s manufacturing facilitiesParticipate in product development, qualification, and plant trialsCoordinate and participate in customer visits, tours, audits and certification procedures for the MillDevelop a strong rapport with customer’s Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering personnelEvaluate corrosion, forming, welding and painting test results as appropriateWork effectively with Operations, Sales, and Product Development to ensure Customer SatisfactionUnderstand current and future functional requirements for products as used by the customerParticipate in customer’s initiatives for steel as appropriate

 

Qualifications

Experience: 

 

Required: 

B.S. degree in engineering, technology, science, business Proven leadership, verbal & written communications, and presentation skillsStrong analytical, organizing and problem solving skills2 year steel plant experience in operations, technical service, outside sales, or product development OR 5-year experience in QA, Engineering, or manufacturing at sheet steel customerMust be able to work collaboratively and constructively with Customers, Operations, and CommercialStrong work ethic. Self-starter.  Positive outlook.  Team PlayerMust be able to travel to customer locations at short notice

 

Preferred:

 

BS. in Metallurgy, Materials Science, or Mechanical Engineering Demonstrated knowledge of steelmaking processes, steel specs, applications, and MES L3Both steel production and steel user experience in manufacturing, QA, or EngineeringKnowledge of ISO and other applicable standards, such as API, ABS
