Technical Sales Manager - Remote

The successful candidate will be a results driven technical professional responsible for supporting and developing customers in the U.S. and Canada for ADM’s Sustainable Packaging segment which includes but is not limited to Paper, Packaging, Corrugated and Other Industrial industries. This position is responsible for providing support to an existing account base, including large national accounts, with emphasis on supporting customer operations, running trials, providing trainings, growing technical relationships and improving the overall customer experience.
Desired Characteristics10+ years of broad technical experience in papermaking, corrugating, additive or other adjacent industriesExpertise in starches and other chemical additivesExperience troubleshooting and resolving machine runability issuesResourceful, self-starter with strong interpersonal skillsAbility to operate independently making sound judgements and decisions with the support of sales, product management and leadershipProven service and customer focus with ability to build relationships across all levels of operations, plant personnel, R&D and managementWillingness to learn, assist and manage all customer channels and productsDesire/motivation to help promote ADM portfolio and products to “key” relationshipsAbility to work as a team player in a growing, quickly changing business environmentEssential ResponsibilitiesDevelop and grow customer relationships by providing subject matter expertise and technical knowledge targeted at improving the customer experienceProvide on-site support for trials, qualifications, audits and requested trainingsPartner with customer operations teams to troubleshoot and resolve runability issuesRecommend specialty “value-added” solutionsEffectively introduce new products, technologies, and processes, to strengthen existing relationships and obtain new business in support of segment growth targets and account plansContinually draw insights on customer needs and seek opportunities to translate these into actionable plans and pipeline developmentWork closely with ADM’s customer facing organization to support the development and implementation of differentiated value propositionsContribute to the creation and execution of action-based customer development plansDevelop, document and maintain a strong working knowledge of the Sustainable Packaging market and competitive landscapeActive use and maintenance of CRM Tool (Salesforce.com)Qualifications/RequirementsB.Sc. or M.Sc. or equivalent in paper science, material science, chemical engineering, process engineering or similarStrong background in papermaking and corrugated chemistries, including starch, with at least 10 years of relevant technical expertiseExcellent technical understanding and hands-on experience with papermaking/corrugated processExcellent written and oral communication skillsExternal network in paper, corrugated and additive industries is a plusPrior experience in commercial or customer-facing role is a plusTravelOvernight travel is required (>50%) Excited about this role but don’t think you meet every requirement listed?
