Job Description

This position supports production objectives to improve quality, cost, and delivery.  Will work closely with Production and Operations to evaluate, recommend and implement shop floor process improvement activities. This position will function as a team member on more complicated projects as defined by the Engineering Manager, and will provide technical information to other project participants/cross functional teams, recommend cost-effective procedures, track and maintain implementation dates. This position will assist with the continuous improvement of the endoscope service business as a whole.

Job Duties Interact with production teams to provide product support, including but not limited to implementing process improvements, troubleshooting equipment, addressing process questions, setting up KanBans and aiding capacity planning.  Ability to lead routine projects without assistance. Mentor junior engineers. Process change orders (CO). Verify/create bill of materials, routers, and labor codes. Assist in addressing Corrective Actions (CA). Execute process and equipment validations (IQ/OQ/PQ). Perform line audits to assure that manufacturing processes and related documentation follow established policies and procedures.    Review manuals for new and existing products. Own manufacturing procedures to ensure control of product/process design. Participate in discussions to resolve technical issues or process/product improvements Coordinate cost reduction initiatives. Assist in the justification for capital expenditures. Develop and modify repair and refurbishment processes, tooling, and fixtures utilizing best practice tools that result in sufficient capacity to meet customer demand while promoting product quality, process efficiency and control, and operator safety.   Perform time studies as needed. Perform training for new and existing machines and processes. Assist in the preparation of preventative maintenance documentation and plans. Assist in identifying equipment needs and evaluate internal/external options for sourcing such equipment. Assist with facilities layout including equipment layout and workplace design. Has basic understanding of device nomenclature, repair, and refurbishment processes. Apply Lean tools such as value stream map, Takt time, Ishikawa cause and effect, line balancing, Poka-yoke, identifying muda. Participate in and help coordinate NPI and NPR projects. Required:

Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering and a minimum of two years Engineering experience, or Associate degree in engineering or engineering technology and five years related service experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Preferred:

Experience in project management regarding engineering activities.  Utilize analytical tools, including statistic methodology, to identify design, process, and production problems. Cost reduction initiative experience. Excellence  project and cross-Functional team management experience. Ability to work with multiple discipline projects. Quality and customer oriented. Experience in coordinating activities among departments or groups. Possess a high degree of personal organization and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Knowledge of Microsoft Office. Able to perform required duties with minimal supervision. Knowledge of FDA regulations is desirable.

The anticipated base pay range for this full-time position working at this location is $82,500.00 - $111,374.00 / year, plus potential for annual bonus (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements). Olympus considers a variety of factors when determining actual compensation for this position including: level of experience, working location, and relevant education and certifications.
