Technical Manager (Industrial Chemist) - Adhesives Manufacturing Industry
Minimum requirements for the role:
A Chemistry or Polymer Science or related qualification is preferred for this role. Previous hands-on experience having worked as a Technical Manger / Chemist within the Adhesive or Paints and Coatings or Thermoplastic Polymer-Based Formulation or related markets is preferred for this role. Must be proficient in the use of scientific methods, critical thinking and problem solving. Must be willing to learn, have good management skills and the ability to multitask. Computer literacy is essential with good working knowledge of Microsoft packages. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
Managing the laboratory to strategically improve existing products and develop new products of various cement based adhesive and emulsion products for the building, waterproofing and construction and related markets on an international and national basis. Ensuring compliance with industry standards and facilitating cost reduction via new product development. Collaborating closely with other Operating Executives to ensure optimised production and profitability. Investigating deviations from specifications and monitoring actions to rectify problems for compliance to agreed standards. Enhancing the technical acceptance by the market of the Group’s products. Managing or supporting assigned projects. Approving and introducing alternative raw materials. Transferring new products and technologies to the Processing Group. Providing technical support to the manufacturing plant to assure product quality. Keeping accurate records and maintaining good laboratory notebook practice. Publishing progress reports, trip reports and monthlies on approved projects. Visiting Customer sites and providing technical solutions to Customers. Initiating and attending and presenting technical presentations to Customers. Maintaining assigned equipment in a good operating condition. Providing training to new employees. Salary package, including benefits, is highly negotiable depending on experience gained.
