About the Senior Technical Manager Aggregates Role:
This is a senior role that has the responsibility to drive industry change through collaboration with key industry stakeholders including Queensland Transport and Main Roads, the Australian Standards organisation and other industry bodies.
Working collaboratively with Territory Sales Managers and Production Teams in providing value to customers in terms of specialist technical support, advice and product innovation through direct leadership of a small specialist team.
Promotion of Technical Capabilities: Actively promoting technical capabilities to both internal and external stakeholders.
Professional Expertise: Sharing product expertise within professional environments like industry and standards committees.
Product Specifications and Audits: Assisting production staff in meeting product specifications through effective lot control processes and technical plant audits.
Customer Communication: Providing timely information to customers on product or process changes, addressing performance issues, and resolving concerns promptly.
Raw Material Monitoring: Monitoring raw material performance and consistency, reporting any non-conformances.
Compliance and Registrations: Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and maintaining quarry registrations with TMR.
Revenue Generation: Identifying opportunities to leverage technical capabilities for revenue-generating activities.
Contract Review: Conducting technical reviews to support sales activities and ensure that testing costs are clearly understood.
Professional Development: Engaging in continual professional development activities.
Liaison and Reviews: Regularly communicating with Territory Sales Managers and customers throughout projects, and participating in post-project reviews.
Training: Providing technical training to internal teams to optimize raw material usage, product consistency, and production performance.
Collaboration: Effectively collaborating with internal stakeholders like Quarry Managers and Geologists to enhance productivity outcomes and quarry reserves.
Background and Experience required:
A degree or diploma is preferred but not essential, as relevant experience will be taken into account.
Minimum 5-10 years technical experience, within soils/ aggregate technology
Strong aggregate technology knowledge
Knowledge of relevant product specifications (Australian Standard and TMR)
Knowledge around Quarry Operations and processes
Statistical analysis methods
Knowledge of NATA Laboratory accreditation requirements
Effectively interpret and critically evaluate technical documents
Excellent Written and verbal communication skills
