Technical Lead - Industrial Activity Manager

Primary Purpose of the role:

Thales is expanding its presence in India through the development of a Group Engineering Competence Centre (ECC), reinforcing its position as a leader in all its markets. Launching in early 2019 in Bengaluru, the ECC will expand Thales’ footprint in its core business areas and cement its long-standing relationship with India. Engineering Competency Center in Bangalore is seeking a Technical Lead role to be part of Industry in Operations team of Thales India. In this role you will be responsible for ensure Manufacturing technology maturity, Industrial targets, perform trade analysis of design to cost, industrial tools efficiency and tests covering for Defense & Aerospace products to meet the customer requirements.

Key Responsibility and Task:

Management of Industrial deliverables and manufacturing topics for the new product development;

Responsible for the delivery (quality, cost, deadlines) of the hardware during development and series production (ensuring ‘As Built’ configuration is adhering to ‘current design’ configuration).

Responsible for monitoring of the hardware configuration delivered against PO or SoW requirements, implement ECNs and adhering configuration management practices.

Improve Production/Repair and Investigation processes by implementing actions to improve productivity and reduce rework.

Set priorities and make decisions as needed to correct deviations

Setting-up of Industrial resources and processes;

Must have experience in technologies qualification plan definition and execution in order to increase technology maturity from TRL3-4 to TRL 5-6

Must have experience in electronic manufacturing readiness definition and execution in order to increase process maturity from MRL2-4 to MRL7-8

Must have large technical competencies: PCB technologies (multi-layers, digital), PCBA technologies (fine pitch, power devices, Lead free and leaded high reliability soldering, PCB protection and repairing), Mechanical structures development, Surface preparation and finishing for airborne hardened equipment from design phase to manufacturing process validation

Monitoring of production plans and interface of the various stakeholders involved;

Prepare scope of work for subcontracted activities and manage the scope

Technical Support of the NPI/NPD programs with  Indian suppliers (DFM, Recurring cost, Technology maturity, Production readiness reviews, First article inspection and clearance);

Must have experience to ensure the realization of your batch in the objective of the targeted RC series, the mastery of NRC industrialization and the provision of production lines of all means of production and testing;

Main point of contact for reporting Technical Facts/Events to Thales Global and project teams;

Product conformity and industrial performance;

Pilot the industrialization and production transfers;

Advise/train the ECC Technical teams dealing with issues;

Development of the industrial maturity of the TIPL Industry

Skills & Knowledge Required:

Production line management (electronic (Preferred) and/or mechanic and/or benches and/or optical);

Management of supplier performances working with supply chain team;

Good knowledge of production processes, tools, planning, PLM tools

Experience on industrial transfers;

Well versed with Design for manufacturing ,testing concepts for Electromechanical modules, PCBs and box builds

Hands on experience on Manufacturing engineering

Demonstrate a high level of autonomy and efficiency, as well as a strong willingness to interact with the different stakeholders.

Years of Experience:

8 to 12 years of experience

At least 10 years of exposure in the Industry field (especially in Electronics).

Working experience in Avionics and Defense systems design is a plus.

Educational Qualification:

B.E. / B.Tech in Technology and/or Industrial engineering or Mechanical or Electronics or equivalent
