Technical Instructional Designer II

The Technical Instructional Developer II (TID2) will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing training tools that supports Consumable Manufacturing and other departments as needed. The TID2 contributes on projects individually and within a project team – generally under the leadership of a more experienced individual (e.g. Lead, Engineers and/or Managers). The content is developed using various instructional methodologies including but not limited to, online training modules, simulations, applications, performance support tools, and other digital materials. Performs work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of Biomerieux’s Quality System. The TID2 is expected to work and communicate well with other team members and leadership. The TID2 works within the Engineering team and receives direction and is supervised by the Manufacturing Engineering Support Manager.
1. Performs all work in compliance with company policy and within the guidelines of Biomerieux’s Diagnostics Quality System.
2. Maintains records in compliance with regulatory requirements, current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
3. Communicates effectively up and down through the organization, laterally, and within teams they support.
4. Confers with management, leads and employees to gain knowledge of work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, business initiatives and technologies.
5. Provides weekly/monthly/quarterly status reports on training activities and events.
6. Conducts skill assessments and collects input to identify training or development needs, goals, gaps, and requirements.
7. Consults with subject matter experts to define learning objectives and to design appropriate course content and training curriculum.
8. Builds interactive online training modules, training shorts, videos, and other multimedia to engage team about safety, compliance, troubleshooting guides, and other job enhancement topics.
9. Tests and uploads courses into the learning management system (LMS).
10. Administers users and all functions of the LMS.
11. Maintains and refreshes content in existing e-learning courses.
12. Writes training programs, including outline, text, handouts, and tests.
13. Designs and develops training programs, curriculum, methods, and materials for various audiences, including employees, managers, customers, or other learners.
14. Provides training to engineering teams supporting Consumables Manufacturing for regulated medical device products and sub-assemblies.
15. Coordinates and/or facilitates training courses from a range of curriculums including new employee skills training, general professional development courses, and others including webinar-led venues.
16. Completes all training documenting requirements timely and accurately including post-training follow up.
17. Monitors training effectiveness.
18. Establishes metrics to use to evaluate training effectiveness.
19. May collaborate with vendors that provide training materials or conduct training.
20. Develops and maintains a positive relationship with stakeholders and SMEs involved in program design and development to solve business problems.
21. Applies tested instructional design theories, practices, and methods to communicate interaction and design ideas.
22. Supports the growth and development of other members of the team by providing peer-mentoring. Seeks to mentor lower-level Technical Instructional Designers on the team

24. Performs additional tasks as assigned by management.
• Travel: minimal travel - up to 10%.
Training and Education:Bachelor’s degree in technical field, communications/design-related, education, business or equivalent experience in training development, curriculum or instructional design, eLearning development, education technology, or similar; Master’s degree in a related field is preferred
1. 2 to 4 years hands-on experience in communication design, multimedia, film, video, or production art is preferred.
2. Minimum of 2 years of experience in an FDA/ISO manufacturing environment is preferred.
3. 2-4 years of experience as Technical Trainer and/or Instructional Developer is preferred.
4. Experience in industry and knowledge of cGMP/QSR/ISO is preferred.
5. Knowledge of and experience in developing training modules is a must.
6. Extensive knowledge of learning theories and instructional design model.
1. Ability to contribute to storyboard and script development for instructional videos and animations.
2. Stays up-to-date with design trends and production best practices and is willing to try new ideas to design and produce better content.
3. Ability to quickly learn new software applications to accomplish production tasks.
4. Producing e-Learning content in Articulate 360 or similar software tool.
5. Learning Management System (LMS).
6. Conducting on-location video shoots/interviews.
7. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
8. Ability to write simply and coherently from multiple sources (verbal, written, visual).
9. Must be flexible to accommodate off shift hours if needed.

• The ability to occasionally lift 15-20 pounds. • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending, kneeling, squatting, stooping, stretching, occasionally pulling, pushing, and reaching. • Requires working from step ladders. • Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. • Requires normal range of hearing and vision to record, prepare and communicate appropriate reports. • Ability to work with various chemicals and use PPE in accordance with MSDS/SDS sheets.
