Position : Technical Financial Analyst

Location : Yonge/Bloor, Toronto and Markham, ON (hybrid position)

The Technical Financial Analyst role provides full-time monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, business process & controls support. The successful incumbent will develop key working relationships with members of the Shared Services teams and Controllers group. This role will work with these teams to drive successful budgeting, forecasting, monthly reporting and application of process controls. The role requires a motivated individual with high initiative, strong organization and analytical skills, excellent communication skills, keen attention to detail, and advanced proficiency with MS Excel. This role reports to the Director, Financial Planning & Analytics.

Duties & Responsibilities

Monthly responsibilities

Financial Planning & Analysis

Supports financial reporting process Compilation of data to prepare key performance indicators and related analytics (Corporate Update & Regional Analysis) Assist with preparing month-end management reporting package Provide monthly analytics and reports company-wide

Process & Controls

Perform data governance related data analysis and clean up Analyze system security requests and provide recommendations Assist in reviewing and maintaining control processes and activities Review Monthly and Quarterly security reports

Quarterly

Monthly activities as per above Drive budgeting and forecasting for Corporate Services group and Major Projects Liaise with IT Contract Specialist to track software spending across the company, analyzing variances and making forecasting recommendations Conduct market research to help benchmark the company against its peers Assist in compiling and maintaining the risk register and related analysis, and following up with controllers group where applicable

Annually

Prepare analysis in support of the annual Corporate Office and Shared Service allocations to the regions Prepare analysis and make recommendations for regional labour burden rates for annual updates

Other

Responsible for company-wide printer contract, including tracking costs, maintaining asset lists and providing a running cost analysis for MSA renewals Partner closely with stakeholders to create, improve, automate and simplify operational and financial reporting Assist with data governance queries across a variety of programs and tools Active contributor in process improvement working groups, controls and compliance activities, and business intelligence projects Assist in reviewing and documenting processes Participate in special projects and provide ad-hoc analysis on potential acquisitions, where necessary Provides financial analysis support to other functions (e.g. HR, PMO, etc.) as directed Provide support for control-related activities in connection with external audits Demonstrate interest in and accountability for personal and professional developmentOther duties as assignedBlack and McDonald LtdBachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science, Data Management, Software Engineering, or similar Technology

WAGE AND COMPENSATION DETAILS:

Regular rate of pay range: $70,000 – 75,000 CAD annual Compensation may include incremental raises in excess of 2%. 4% for pension plan (optional) 40 hours/week; Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day 15 vacation days annually (accrued) Health, dental, and paramedical plan

Education Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree or diploma in computer science, Data Management, Software Engineering, or similar Technology

Work Experience Requirements:

At least 5 years of work experience in a corporate finance setting1+ year experience in a decentralized, matrix finance structure5+ years’ experience with MS Excel (including VBA and macros) is required - demonstrated ability to summarize and distill volumes of data into meaningful management reportsCompleted at least 1 major data migration project into Power BI

Skills and Abilities Requirements:

Proficiency in software development, testing, and implementation/configuration, specifically with RDMS, SQL, VBA, and C/C++Experience in Construction industry highly preferredExperience with ERP systems (JD Edwards experience highly preferred)Ability to travel within GTA to multiple site offices required
