The EVAP Component Technical Expert will lead the Core Evaporative Emissions System Components team to deliver robust and reliable components that meet system level functional requirements, vehicle noise and vibration targets, and market evaporative emissions regulations. This Technical Expert will act as the lead technical resource both internally and externally on component functionality and provide technical support to global teams on component related matters.
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar/equivalent. 10+ years of experience plus 6+ years in experience with fuel or evaporative systems. Ability to build strong working relationships with all stakeholders including program teams, purchasing, manufacturing, STA & suppliers. Strong leadership skills, passion for quality, passion for customer – inherent self-starter with strong drive for results. In-depth understanding of evaporative emissions systems, components, and global regulations. Experience writing DFMEA’s, SCCAF’s, Engineering Specifications, Requirements, Design Rule core documents. Strong skills in project planning and management – must have experience in managing complex projects. Strong oral/written communication skills to lead group projects, issue resolution, and management reviews. Ability to manage/resolve simultaneous challenging complex technical issues. Excellent problem-solving skills with demonstrated track records of utilizing Ford recognized problem solving tools for issue resolution. Demonstrated capability to teach / coach / mentor and document technical knowledge. Self-starter - ability to work effectively with little oversight. Technical Specialist evidence book required.Additional preferred qualifications include:
MS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar/equivalent. Experience with GPDS process, timing, and delivery requirements. As the EVAP Component Technical Expert, you will define Roles and Responsibilities for the Core Evaporative Emissions System Components team and develop and monitor workplans to achieve team goals. Lead the core components team in maintaining the supply base of EVAP components, by working with key suppliers to: Support production part delivery with zero defects Complete necessary design and material changes Lead core components team in developing new high-quality, low-cost suppliers with robust reliable components that meet our long-term solutions for a best-in-class EVAP system. Review and signoff application Tech Club assessments for component DVP&R completion, component Design Rule compliance and overall component packaging. Lead the team in component FMEA development and Engineering Specification updates to align with corporate robustness and reliability goals. Update current and develop new component Design Rules to improve component robustness and reliability in the vehicle environment. Support program EVAP related quality concerns by maintaining and leveraging claim data, part return data, and Connected Vehicle Data. Support resolution of emerging QSF and other OPD issues and ensure read across to deliver consistent cross program implementation of prevent recurrence, best practices, and lessons learned.
