About the Role As a Technical Claims Specialist (also known as Technical Manager), you will be the in-team specialist providing technical and legislative claims expertise and Workers Compensation knowledge. Your unique skillset will be pivotal in coaching and mentoring claims staff on complex claims matters. You will leverage your expertise in Workers Compensation legislation to review and endorse claims decisions, liaise with legal parties on disputes, perform compensation calculations, and provide technical reviews for claims management strategies. How you'll make an impact Key Responsibilities: Expert Application: Utilize your specialist Workers Compensation knowledge to manage complex claims and serve as a technical reference for Case Managers and Senior Case Managers. Client Support: Provide expert guidance and assistance to employer clients requiring specialized technical support. Legal Liaison: Interact with and provide instructions to Legal Panel Firms on pre-litigated and litigated matters within required timeframes. Communication: Keep employers, consultants, and other involved parties updated on the status of litigated matters. Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough quality revisions and endorsements of adverse decisions. Collaboration: Participate in case conferencing with Case Managers and attend claims review meetings to ensure comprehensive case management. Strategy Development: Assist with strategy considerations and attend conciliation conferences to support effective claims resolution. Mentorship: Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. About you What we’re looking for: Industry Experience: Proven experience in the Workers Compensation industry and a strong understanding of Work Cover legislation. Legislative Knowledge: Ability to interpret and apply the Accident Compensation Act effectively. Customer Service Excellence: Outstanding customer service skills with a focus on client satisfaction. Communication Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with clients and team members. Client Service Background: Experience in client service roles, demonstrating a commitment to client support and satisfaction. Leadership Abilities: Strong coaching, mentoring, and leadership skills to guide and develop team members. Educational Background: A Bachelor of Law Degree and/or industry-related qualifications are ideal but not mandatory.
