This is a full time position within the Academic Advising unit. **Job Responsibilities:** This position provides first contact advising information to students, and clerical support from student inquiry through student graduation. Clerical skills at an intermediate level will be used to assist students, perform assigned duties for the CCSPA/UED Advising Team, and provide support for advisors. This position works cooperatively with others within the College and Schools in CCSPA and UED and throughout the Advising Unit to support advising services at the University. The incumbent will have strong customer service, time management and prioritization skills, the desire to support a diverse student body, and a positive attitude that supports and is consistent with the mission, vision, and values statements of the University. **Minimum Qualifications** The following qualifications are required of all applicants seeking consideration for this position. Only applicants whose application materials clearly demonstrate fulfillment of each of these minimum qualifications will be considered for the position: + Knowledge of English sufficient to communicate effectively with internal and external customers + Skill in word processing sufficient to prepare memos and letters that are grammatically correct, in proper format, and free of spelling errors + Ability to use customer service skills on the phone, in person and online to provide effective general and specialist office support (this requires common courtesy, tact, interest in positive problem solving, empathy, and the ability to organize ideas logically) in a diverse environment + Ability to input data quickly and accurately and check input and output for completeness, accuracy, and discrepancies + Knowledge of computer software applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. to create memos, spreadsheets, reports from a variety of sources and compile lists, and graphs to track projects and activities + Math skills sufficient to add, subtract, multiply and divide in order to generate reports and use formulas with accuracy + Ability to maintain confidentiality + Understanding of diversity **Preferred Qualification** + Two years of full-time experience in a customer service role. + Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite + Experience using a database record keeping system + Knowledge of higher education procedures sufficient to guide students + Ability to work effectively on a team + Experience preparing informational materials **Other Requirements** **Physical Requirements of the Job:** Requires occasionally transporting such articles as file folders, ledgers, and small tools.
