Job Summary

Based in our East Cowes facilities, and reporting into one of our Group Leaders, the Team Leader (Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul) role is responsible for achieving the People, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cash and Cost targets through the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model.

 

Leading a team of highly skilled aircraft fitters to attain operations excellence across their designated area of responsibility, in line with the Performance Centre objectives.

 

Creating a ‘Great Place to Work’ through developing and empowering first class team members and driving a culture of continuous improvement, safe working and open dialogue.

 

There is an expectation to travel to customer premises when required (possibly international) to undertake work to meet customer schedule requirements (potential requirement to travel at short notice)

Job Responsibilities

 

Typical responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

 

Leading and developing a small, highly skilled team, and provide opportunities for team members to play to their strengths; do what they do best, and create on-going opportunities for learning and personal development. Responsible for generating dispatch documents for MRO in accordance with GKN, CAA, EASA & FAA regulations Maintain the necessary levels of training and competence as required by Part 21 and Part 145 regulation. Generating labour and material costs for repair quote purposes. Create and sustain a culture that is aligned to the GKN Aerospace “Great Place to Work” value drivers and culture principles by role-modelling behaviours, motivating, encouraging and recognising the contribution of team members. Exemplify a safety-first mind-set and ensuring that the GKN Aerospace Health, Safety and Environmental policies and standards are applied and that their assigned areas are a model of a world class health and safe working environment. Driving the disciplined and rigorous deployment of the Lean Operating Model (LOM) across their assigned areas. Active involvement in problem solving and the management system using a ‘Go to Gemba’ approach to solve problems with the ambition that 95% of issues can be solved within the zone itself. Contributing to the Value Stream future state design, and ensuring its execution across their assigned areas. Cooperate with other Team Leaders to ensure the best performance outcomes for the entire area. Responsibility for managing a Zone budget as agreed with their Group Leader. Taking ownership when having to make difficult decisions linked to their zone. Provide leadership during offsite working activities. Organisation of workload & Field Service Technicians Liaison with customer representatives Job Qualifications

 

Suitably qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate the following: 

 

Essential:

Certified aircraft fitter, with demonstrable and extensive experience of working on a broad number of aerospace programmes within a production assembly environment; Previous experience as a Team Leader, demonstrating rigorous adherence to standardised work, and a track record of Kaizen implementation Able to demonstrate competence to undertake key tasks within their designated work zone or those in zones within similar processes Self-motivated by meeting and exceeding performance targets The demonstrated ability to work with various stakeholders Demonstrated potential to lead, engage, train and develop direct reports An effective communicator and an influential team member, with first class customer facing skills Willingness and ability to travel to customer sites (possibly overseas) when required

Commercial Awareness Previous inspection/stamp holder experience
