Team Leader Final

Shatterprufe® is the leading manufacturer and distributor of OE Auto and aftermarket replacement glass products. The company manufactures genuine Shatterprufe® laminated windscreens and Armourplate® toughened automotive safety glass products. Three automotive glass plants manufacture over 4 million pieces of laminated and toughened glass a year for customers worldwide. Shatterprufe® products are installed by Original Motor manufacturers in Southern Africa.

A vacancy for Team Leader- Final has arisen at our Shatterprufe Neave plant in Port Elizabeth.  This is a General Staff position reporting to the Shift Manager. 

 

Main job purpose

To efficiently plan, organise, motivate and control the activities of the team by utilising available resources in order to maximise output and minimise downtime of the line / machine on a daily basis, and to ensure that all work is carried out as per SOP and that the required quality specifications are met at all times in line with customer and business standards and specifications.

 

Main Objective

To lead the team to achieve maximum throughput with minimum downtime and minimum defective products to achieve departmental and overall business goals. To ensure staff are effectively managed and held accountable through performance and disciplinary procedures, and that staff are developed and mentored to drive capability in the business. Responsible for achieving targeted volumes set per line, per department, by adhering to standard operating procedures and completing Short Interval Control documentation accurately on an hourly basis in order to measure progress against the set targets. Ensuring that cycle times and change-over times are met or exceeded and downtime minimised to ensure that targets are achieved in line with safety and quality standards. Timeous detection and response to deviations from the set standards to minimise downtime and to ensure optimisation of cycle times, loss level and machine availability. Participate in team problem solving initiatives and improvement actions by using trouble shooting guides and lessons learned to ensure equipment efficiency and quality of product maintained. To ensure 5S housekeeping is practiced and safety standards driven in order to achieve Company safety objectives. To ensure good and effective communication through the transfer of critical and important information to incoming shifts to avoid delays to production schedules. Confirmation of orders to be balanced before handed over to the next process to ensure accurate WIP control while ensuring set SX and customer time frames and standards are adhered to.
