Teaching Assistant Professor in Feminist and LGBTQ studies

The Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies Program at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a full-time Teaching Assistant Professor for a three-year period, with a review at the end of the first year, pending budgetary approval. The course load is 3-3, and the position is outside the tenure track. Note that this year, classes begin on August 25, 2025. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Required Qualifications:

1). In addition to the ability to teach Introductory courses in Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies, Feminist Theory, and Sex and Sexuality, the successful candidate will be able to teach courses in Transgender Studies, Introduction to LGBTQ Studies, and Sex, Race and Popular Culture.

2). A PhD in Film Studies, English, or other fields focused on Popular Culture Analysis

3). Will be able to help develop programming and courses related to Queer Cinema and to support emerging Minor in LGBTQ and Critical Sexuality Studies

Preferred Qualifications:

1). Previous teaching experience at a public research university in the areas listed above

2). Ability to support curricular and programmatic needs in feminist and LGBTQ approaches to sexuality

2). Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary program with students from a range of backgrounds.
