Teacher (MPS)

Teacher – Intervention & Outreach (Main Pay Scale/Upper Pay Scale & SEN allowance)

To start September 2024

At The Bridge Short Stay School, we don’t believe a student’s past defines their future, we are looking for an exceptional individual who shares our belief that students who have previously struggled in a mainstream environment can go on to thrive.

Due to increasing student numbers we are recruiting an additional teacher to join our team. Final details of the timetable will be confirmed based on the skills of the successful applicant, but in the first instance is likely to include small group intervention in order to give students targeted support in KS4 curriculum areas and/or outreach teaching to students who are struggling to attend school regularly.

As a result of the flexibility in this role we are looking for the right person over and above a particular subject specialism, although experience of teaching in one or more core subjects would be an advantage. We are looking for a teacher who is able to get the best out of students who have been previously disengaged with education and truly believes in the potential of all young people.

The Bridge provides education for students who have been permanently excluded for a variety of reasons. We work hard to re-engage students and address the factors that led to their exclusion alongside maintaining high aspirations for their academic learning. We are looking to appoint an inspirational teacher who is able to provide high quality teaching, while also having the personality, values and skills that allows them to work successfully with our students.

Our work at the school is challenging but rewarding, staff have positive relationships with students and change lives on a daily basis. You will be able to see the potential behind the behaviour; you will also have the patience and resilience that allows you to offer students a genuine fresh start and the chance to achieve. Our recent OFSTED inspection highlighted the difference that the school makes to students’ lives.

This is an ideal opportunity for a teacher who wants to make a difference and can see a child as more than a grade. As well as your teaching ability we are looking for someone who shares our values, believes in our young people and is able to inspire aspiration in them. In return the successful candidate will join a talented and committed team and will be supported to be the best teacher they can be.

The Bridge Short Stay School is fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS disclosure will be sought for the successful candidate in accordance with Safeguarding Children and Safer Recruitment in Education legislation.
