Robert Half currently has ongoing opportunities for experience Tax Preparers local to Westlake Village, CA. The Tax Preparer is responsible for accurately preparing tax returns for individuals, partnerships, corporations, and other entities, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. This role involves direct interaction with clients, collecting relevant financial data, conducting tax research, and providing tax-related advice. The ideal candidate must have strong attention to detail, a deep understanding of tax laws, and excellent client communication skills. Some key components include: Tax Return Preparation, Client Consultation and Financial Review, Tax Law Compliance and Research, Data Verification and Documentation, Tax Planning and Advisory, Amended Returns and Tax Problem Resolution, Client Relationship Management, Software and Technology Utilization, and other duties as assigned. Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
· Successful completion of tax preparation courses or training programs (e.g., H& R Block Tax Course, Jackson Hewitt Tax Course) is a plus.
· 1-3 years of experience in preparing tax returns for individuals and small businesses.
· Familiarity with different types of tax returns (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065) and corresponding schedules.
· Previous experience working in a public accounting firm or tax preparation office preferred.
· Proficiency in tax preparation software (e.g., Lacerte, TurboTax, Drake, UltraTax, TaxSlayer).
· Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local tax laws.
· Familiarity with IRS regulations, forms, and publications.
· Competent with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel).
· Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure accuracy in tax filings.
· Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret and apply tax regulations.
· Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex tax matters to clients in a clear, understandable manner.
· Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, particularly during tax season, while managing multiple deadlines.
