GLOBAL TAX 

Global Tax team's Mission is to ensure the firm’s compliance with the tax laws and associated reporting obligations of the countries and local jurisdictions in which the firm conducts business. As part of the firm’s second line of defense, Global Tax analyzes and supports the activities, operations, reporting obligations, and transactions of the firm’s business lines to ensure that tax consequences and reputational risks are evaluated appropriately.

Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted segment that partners with all parts of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. In addition, Operations provides essential risk management and control to preserve and enhance the firm’s assets and its reputation. For every trade agreed, every new product launched, or market entered, every transaction completed, it is Operations that develops the processes and controls that makes business flow.

Are you looking for an opportunity to be part of a growing organization and work as part of a global team to drive strategy in a constantly changing environment? We are looking for a Vice President with tax experience to join the Tax Business Analyst team in the Tax Department.

Tax analyzes and supports the activities, operations, reporting obligations and transactions of the firm’s business lines to ensure that tax consequences and reputational risks are evaluated appropriately. Our work contributes directly to the firm’s success, and the division is ideal for creative and collaborative individuals who have strong ethics and attention to detail.

The team is responsible for maintaining the integrity of the firm’s compliance with reporting authorities around the globe and managing related inquiries from a variety of the firm’s businesses across established and emerging markets. Day-to-day team functions include accurate and timely account documentation and monitoring, withholding, client information reporting, and regulatory filings. The team also provides critical subject matter expertise and functionally aligned support during the design, testing and implementation of related systems and processes. The team capitalizes on opportunities to optimize procedures and build scalability through data analytics and efficient use of technology.

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Help provide team oversight, foster team development, and give regular feedback & reporting to senior management.
• Develop deep subject matter expertise in relevant tax systems, procedures, and requirements.
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of multiple business lines across the firm in a role offering broad exposure to many divisions and groups.
• Engage internal and external advisors for interpretive guidance on new regulation impact or new business integrating with Tax Ops.

• Use your inquisitive mindset to identify control weakness, mitigate risk, improve client experience, and further process automation.
• Act as a risk manager through ongoing assessment and awareness of the tax regulatory environment and the firm’s adherence to applicable tax reporting obligations.
• Work with management and teams across regions to drive initiatives and issue resolution.
• Create workflows and solution designs for technical systems and applications.
• Generate new ideas to create efficiencies and reduce risk.
• Be flexible and contribute to other activities as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree and 1+ years relevant work experience in Operations, Taxation, Finance or related field leading teams, functions and managing projects.
• Understanding of FATCA and NRA withholding and reporting requirements.
• Knowledge of change in circumstance (CiC) processing. FATCA, NRA
• Collaborate with other tax operations professionals, within the firm, to coordinate efforts, resolve client issues, and ensure accurate reporting.
• managing functional teams and providing coaching and mentorship.
• Proven ability to prioritize workload to drive results, solve problems and take accountability for deadlines / outcomes.
• Excellent organization and requirements management skills.
• Comfortable presenting to executive leadership.
• Thrives in a team environment, possesses strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Remains composed under pressure, prioritizes, and makes decisions in a fast-paced environment.
• Track record of accuracy and attention to detail; flexible, proactive, self-starter.
• Analytical thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas and translate strategy to execution.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act, Nonresident Alien, and Backup withholding.
• Prior Tax Operations related work experience or understanding of broker/dealer tax obligations.
• Knowledge of FATCA tax documentation (W-8/W-9) and/or 1099/1042s reporting.
• Ability to translate regulatory guidance and design solutions for risk mitigation and fulfill compliance mandates.
