Description We are offering a long-term contract employment opportunity for a Tax Collector in the local government sector, based in Wilton, Connecticut. The chosen candidate will be primarily engaged in handling tax and sewer payments, aiding in office operations, and interacting with the public to explain tax laws and procedures, among other duties. Key Responsibilities: • Handle tax and sewer payments received in person and via mail • Contribute to the daily opening and closing procedures of the office • Clarify tax laws, rules, and procedures to the public in person, through email, or over the phone • Assist in preparing and addressing delinquent notices • Help in organizing and remailing returned mail • Transform paper records into an electronic database • Prepare, sort, and mail delinquency and lien notices • Regularly interact with the public, involving extensive research at times • Utilize Quality Data Service Software and Microsoft Office extensively • Perform other duties assigned by the Manager of Assessing & Tax Collection and Assistant Tax Collector.
