AVK produces blind installed threaded fasteners for transportation and general industrial markets worldwide. We use state of the art high-speed cold forming equipment to produce blind installed threaded inserts and studs.
We feature product lines of both unified (INCH) and metric fasteners along with numerous special designs that meet customer application requirements. Position Summary:
Level Two: Completely and independently sets up and operates 6 or more Tapping machines equipped with automatic feeding mechanisms to tap threads for metal parts. Working without supervision, level two tapping machine operators performs all levels of tapping operations including full machine setup and troubleshooting, providing training and assistance to lower level employees. This requires knowledge of tap geometry performing the following duties. Candidates must be self-disciplined and self-motivated individuals with strong accountability (attention to details) skills. Candidates must have the ability and desire to be flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced production environment, be resourceful and innovative along with presenting a strong business ethic and compliance to leadership and company policies, and a good communicator with the ability to represent the company in a positive manner.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.
• Adheres to quality processes including in-process inspection to ensure compliance with quality specifications.
• Correctly interpret work orders
• Lift up to 35lbs
• Reads blueprint or work order for product specifications such as dimensions, tolerances, number of parts to be machined, and tooling instructions such as cutting speeds, feed rates, depth of cuts, and cutting tools to be used.
• Sets up machines for self and/or others to run jobs involving higher degrees of complexity
• Positions and secures specified taps to called out specifications.
• Installs and adjusts specified tooling to control stock and tool movements.
• Sets cutting speeds and feed rates.
• Checks depth of tap to ensure proper thread cut
• Uses Go-NoGo thread gauge to check quality
• Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample workpiece to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
• Replaces worn tools.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Required Skills:
• The ability to read and write English.
• Ability to perform basic math functions to determine proper settings for tooling and volume of pieces for production, including common fractions and decimals.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions
Experience & Education
• Typically, 2-4 Years of Experience
• GED or High school diploma preferred but not required.
