Systems Technician
Systems Technician – Split Shift Bay Area Production Services, has an immediate opening for a full-time Systems Technician to manage, maintain and troubleshoot workstations, servers and infrastructure in a time-critical manufacturing environment. You will perform a variety of maintenance, evaluation, installation, and training tasks to ensure IT infrastructure meets company and user requirements. We are a collaborative work environment where colleagues work together to design and implement reports from production databases.

Shift and Work Location: This is a split shift -12 PM to 10:30 PM - four,10-hour days, rotating Sun-Weds and Weds–Sat.

Responsibilities: Exposure to printing presses and the maintenance associated with that environment would be very nice to have. Troubleshoot Windows/Linux server, and application environments to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties. Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.  Administer workstations, including Windows and Linux-based systems.  Install, configure, and support desktop computers, applications, file servers, ethernet cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems

Requirements:

Degree in information technology or equivalent experience Experience with high-availability technologies such as VMware, SAN, HP Blade Servers Experience in manufacturing or workflow system environments an important asset Mastery of Windows and Linux servers and clustered or virtualized environments Very good English written and oral communication skills Knowledge of server hardware and related equipment. Troubleshooting and time management and organizational skills. Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities. Ability to learn and support new systems and applications.  Ability to train and communicate technical information to end-users.  Ability to work independently with a sense of priority and immediacy.

In accordance with applicable law, Hearst is required to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role if hired in California. The reasonable estimate is between $90,000 and $105,000. Please note this information is specific to those hired in Fremont. If this role is open to candidates outside of San Francisco, the salary range would be aligned to that specific location. A final decision on the successful candidate’s starting salary will be based on a number of permissible, non-discriminatory factors, including but not limited to skills and experience, training, certifications, and education.
