To provide first line support on the Short Courses System. To ensure that Student Information and Management System (SIMS) and other related systems are kept up to date with changing procedures. To assist in all aspects of the Unit, but to have particular responsibility for the accurate maintenance of student records and statistical reporting thereon. To provide assistance with maintenance of letters and student communication from Student Information and Management System (SIMS). To write queries to extract information for the University community and to forward these to members in an appropriate fashion.
Brief DescriptionKey responsibilities include the following:
Provide first line support on Short Courses System Liaise with end-users to define and identify business processes and establish documentation needs Provide end-user training on Short Courses System and Student Information and Management System (SIMS) Assist QAPO and schools/departments in ensuring that the Standing Orders for short courses are adhered to Assist in writing the necessary manuals for the Wits Short Course System and ensure that they are kept up to date. Assist in ensuring that new developments in Short Courses System and SIMS are tested thoroughly Coordinate system testing in the unit Assist in creating and maintenance of letters in SIMS (3C Engine)
Requirements:
Post matric qualification - Bachelor s Degree. Postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage. Five (5) years relevant work experience, experience in a University Environment is preferable. Proficiency in developing and writing user manuals. Excellent system skills. Knowledge of PeopleSoft Campus Solutions (SIMS), Business Objects or any SQL, programming knowledge and computer literacy Familiarity with systems and databases is required, including an ability to write a query. Some programming knowledge would be an added advantage. Demonstrated ability to analyses, plan, implement and evaluate and work effectively with attention to detail is required. Ability to communicate information to end-users
Preferences: Information System/IT related degree is preferable Knowledge of the PeopleSoft Campus Solution, Business Objects (SIMS) and any other University systems would be Knowledge of the University rules and processes is desirable
