Responsibilities\: 

The Avionics Systems Integration Team needs a Systems Integrator to support the integration of hardware and software into the Space Launch System (SLS) and Human Lander Systems (HLS) vehicle imagery avionics.  This function is used by engineering to monitor the performance and health and status of the vehicle, Crew, and cargo throughout the SLS and HLS missions.  These missions includes all phases of vehicle preparation (development, integration, and test), launch operations, ascent, lunar insertion, Lunar operations and Crew and vehicle return to earth.

The successful candidate will\:

Work closely with the customer’s Imagery discipline, Level II EDLEs and the Integrated Avionics and Software Lead Engineer assisting with the development and deployment of SLS and HLS Imagery hardware and software. 
Be responsible for insight into the technical operations of multiple imagery sub-systems and as such, must maintain a working technical knowledge of each sub-system and how each will integrate into the overall operation of the vehicle to ensure meeting safety and performance parameters. 
Provide development, integration, and testing insight into the SLS and HLS Level III Imagery discipline avionics suppliers for multiple imagery devices.  
Assist in program coordination within the Space Systems Department. Duties may include, but not be limited to coordinating scheduling, coordinating meetings, tracking action items, assisting in planning activities, supporting trade studies, performing systems analyses, supporting integrated avionics hardware/software design solutions and test, making technical risk management inputs, coordinating technical performance measures, supporting reviews, working groups and boards, and providing periodic status inputs to project and ES Department management.
Support the SLS and HLS Level II Imagery Disciplines in mentoring, program cost and schedule projections, and availability and application of advanced technologies, concept and requirements definitions, and systems engineering as they apply to the imagery discipline.  Support concept and requirements definition, program cost and schedule projections, acquisition planning, systems development and adaptation, and alternatives analysis.
Attend Program and Element reviews and meetings and prepare comments, observations, and recommendations on approaches to implement designs, architectures, and plans from a programmatic and technical perspective on meeting content.
Serve on internal independent, key design, and special review teams as identified by the SLS and HLS imagery disciplines. This includes post review close-out, participation in integrated baseline review activities, participation in preparation, assessment and checkpoint activities leading up to the Imagery Functional Configuration Audits and vehicle Physical Configuration Audits Design Certification Reviews.
Provide insight into imagery architectures, interfaces, software, and validation planning including all aspects of design, development, integration, and test to provide advice and recommendations relative to programmatic planning, schedules, risk & analyses to program decision makers.   Coordinate and interface with the Exploration Ground Systems Development Office (KSC Program), Orion (JSC Program), Secondary Payloads and Exploration Upper Stage (both MSFC Projects) and advise SLS and HLS program management on concepts and plans in support of the Space Launch System and Human Lander imagery.
Interact with senior project personnel at MSFC, Prime Contractors, other NASA Centers, DoD, Industry, and Academia and work closely with MSFC Engineering to ensure a unified and consistent approach across the imagery avionics integration is achieved.  
Travel is not expected to exceed ten (10) percent of the successful candidate’s time.
Provide periodic status inputs to ASED and Customer Project and Engineering management.

The successful candidate will draw upon all necessary contractor organizations supporting the development and deployment of imagery systems as appropriate to complete this task.

·     A degree in Systems Engineering or a related field is required. Degree from an ABET accredited institution is preferred.  Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum 14 years of experience, Masters with at least 18 years of experience, or BS with at least 20 years of experience.

Required\: 

Practical experience with the planning, systems engineering and technical integration, logistical planning, test definition, verification and validation associated with hardware and software electrical systems within a launch vehicle.
Ability to converse with multiple subject matter experts at all levels with emphasis on the imagery hardware, software, and interfaces.
The ability to communicate to all levels of customer and ASED/ESSCA management.
Able to present in front of large technical and Program review boards.
Experience with launch vehicle, documentation, and the Change Request process. 
Experience in the coordination and integration of various disciplines/areas including mechanical, ground support systems, imagery, and quality. 
Knowledge of technical risk mitigation planning. 
Ability to review and provide relevant feedback on Level II and III technical products
Strong customer relations skills, ability to multi-task, ability to be proactive in between formal assignments, and ability to get a task completed with minimal direction
Employee must be self-motivated problem solver, team player familiar with working in a dynamic process oriented work environment.
Ability to socialize recommendations achieving group consensus.
Excellent communication skills, technical writing, and presentation skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word and Adobe Acrobat.

Desired Skills\:

Experience with Space Shuttle, Ares, SLS or HLS imagery systems hardware and software.
Thorough knowledge/experience supporting the full system life cycle, including but not limited to requirements, testing, launch support, etc. 
NASA familiarization, with preferably SLS, HLS, EGS, or Orion programs.
Familiar with Integrated testing and or launch support from Artemis I.
Knowledge of launch vehicle operational requirements, and work authorization documents a plus.

Office environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<15%).


Physical Requirements

Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (40%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%). 


Equipment and Machines

Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).


Attendance

Normal workday is from 7\:30 a.m. through 4\:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.


Other Essential Functions

The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
