Job DescriptionGDIT has an immediate opening for a Systems Engineer supporting the CITS contract for USCENTCOM. The position is based in Tampa, Florida. The Systems Engineer will be primarily responsible for driving integration efforts and supporting project initiatives that involve both Windows and Linux systems. The candidate will work across various cross-functional teams to design, deploy, and implement infrastructure solutions, as well as support the integration of new technologies into the existing enterprise environment, which includes over 5,000 users, 1,000 servers, and 10,000 endpoints.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer with extensive experience in both Windows and Linux systems. The Systems Engineer will focus on project support, system integration, and infrastructure design. This role will involve working closely with various IT and project teams to plan, implement, and integrate systems solutions that meet enterprise requirements. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise in both platforms to ensure smooth integration, optimize the interoperability of systems, and provide innovative solutions to meet mission objectives. This role also involves collaborating with senior stakeholders and leading integration projects that impact both operational and security initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities:
Leading the integration and deployment of new systems and technologies in both Windows and Linux environments.
Collaborating with project managers, system architects, and cross-functional teams to design and implement infrastructure solutions that align with mission requirements.
Managing the integration of new servers, virtual machines, and networking technologies to ensure compatibility and seamless operation within the existing infrastructure.
Supporting enterprise-wide projects by ensuring that Windows and Linux systems can work together efficiently and securely.
Assisting in the planning and implementation of upgrades or transitions to new platforms while minimizing disruptions to ongoing operations.
Ensuring that systems integrations are compliant with security policies and best practices, with a focus on mitigating risks during deployment.
Providing technical guidance and subject matter expertise in both Windows and Linux environments to support system integration efforts.
Coordinating with vendors and third-party providers to ensure proper integration of external solutions and services.
Preparing and presenting technical documentation, including system designs, integration plans, and project reports.
Supporting efforts to automate system integrations and streamline workflows using modern tools and technologies.
Providing mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and team members on integration best practices.
Monitoring and reporting on the progress of integration projects, identifying potential risks, and proposing solutions to mitigate delays.
Supporting initiatives to improve system performance, security, and reliability through integration efforts.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED:
Education and/or Certifications:
BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience plus 5+ years of related work experience.
Required Certifications:
Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification
Desired Certifications:
Microsoft Windows Hybrid Administrator Certification
Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or higher
ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
Skills and Qualifications:
Required Skills:
Proven experience in system integration and project support in both Windows and Linux environments
Strong knowledge of both Windows Server and Linux (Red Hat, CentOS, or Ubuntu) platforms
Demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams and integrate multiple systems into cohesive infrastructure solutions
Experience with deploying and integrating critical services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and LDAP across both Windows and Linux systems
Ability to assess and implement integration strategies for various systems and applications
Experience with system architecture and design, focusing on system interoperability and minimizing system conflicts
Proficient in preparing documentation for integration projects, including design specifications, testing procedures, and deployment guides
Desired Skills:
Experience with infrastructure automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet)
Experience with large-scale systems integration projects and managing cross-functional teams
Familiarity with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and certificate lifecycle management across both Windows and Linux platforms
Knowledge of cloud technologies, virtualization, and hybrid-cloud integration
Experience in troubleshooting complex system integration issues across multi-platform environments
Understanding of system security protocols and how to ensure secure integrations during project deployments
Clearance Requirement:
Active TS/SCI clearance required
Travel Requirements:
Required USCENTCOM Exercise support with up to 10% travel to OCONUS locations during the year
