Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an Engineering Manager 3, supporting the Marine Systems Business Unit, reporting to an Operating Unit (OU) aligned Engineering Director. This is an onsite role located in Sunnyvale, CA. Selected candidate will lead a multi-discipline team of 45 engineers and 2 managers who are responsible for production support and factory acceptance test of naval turbine generators.
In this role, the Engineering Manager Level 3 will be responsible for the following:
Lead a team of 45+ engineers and 2 managersSetting objectives and providing guidance to his/her team based on department and program goalsSupport program needs with strong focus on short and long term planning, technical risk management, and project performance addressing cost, schedule, and technical qualityAdvise and drive program initiatives to improve production efficiency and to minimize production defectDrive department strategy with process improvements and to support critical skillset managementAdvise on department level talent development and workforce planning effortsUphold quality for engineering work productsDrive predictable financial and program results.Candidates must have strong leadership and teambuilding skills, possess strategic thinking, strong technical and business acumen, and the ability to lead multiple engineering disciplines across programs. The candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to build consensus and resolve conflict. The candidate will collaborate with business area managers, and other functional partners to resolve complex issues in a timely manner to help meet program commitments.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in STEM with 8 years of experience; OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 6 years of experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 3 years of experience.3 years' experience managing technical teams.U.S Citizenship required.Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.Must be willing to work onsite at Sunnyvale, CA campus.Strong engineering background with demonstrated experience managing design and production efforts.Experience with proposals and Earned Value Management.Strong engineering background with demonstrated experience managing through design and production.Solid understanding of engineering process with execution experience.Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics or related technical fields.Program management experienceExperience managing control accounts with accountability for scope, schedule, budget, and technical performance.Experience with product line management and product line engineeringProven success in creating and executing affordability initiatives.Experience as a Technical Lead, Project Manager, or other demonstrated leadership role related to program executionModel Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), requirements development, or technical project management experience preferred.Experience with Navy programs.Salary Range: $187,000.00 - $280,600.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
