Systems Engineer III - New Shepard

This role is part of the New Shepard program. New Shepard is a reusable suborbital rocket system designed to take astronauts and research payloads past the Kármán line – the internationally recognized boundary of space. Through operational reusability, New Shepard supports our mission of lowering the cost of access to space.

As part of a hardworking team of diverse specialists, technicians, and engineers (use as appropriate), you will be part of integrating the design, development, test, build, and operation of various spaceflight systems for New Shepard. You will ensure that we achieve our goals by applying and growing your systems engineering skills to directly impact the development and expansion of the system. You will be involved in all phases of the product development cycle and work closely with Lead System Engineers, System Architects, technical and nontechnical stakeholders. We will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedication and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight!

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Utilization of Systems Engineering, PLM, and collaboration tools such as DOORS, JIRA, Confluence, Windchill, Creo, and SharePoint.Support a broad team by leading the creation of and/or modification of analytical models.Perform complex integrated analysis for the New Shepard Program.Provide engineering support and technical ownership for developing concept of operations, requirements, functional decomposition, system verification, validation, integration, test, and operation.Apply technical knowledge with systems engineering principles, theories, and techniques to advance the programEstablish product and processes metrics that optimally measure and improve performance of supporting systems.Identify and fix gaps in existing process, tools, infrastructure, and continually improve solutions along the way.Working directly with lead systems engineers and technical program managers to plan and prioritize work assignmentsAct as the systems engineering liaison for the project team, advancing issues where necessarySupporting problem report and root cause investigations and dispositionsSupport design and configuration leads by conducting change impact analysesDevelop system safety analyses and products such as FMECAs, FTAs, and FHAsSupport launch operations and mission readiness for the human-rated New Shepard vehiclesSupport and lead design and operational gated reviews

Minimum Qualifications:B.S. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math, or Physics.5+ years of proven system development and integration experience – preferably within the aerospace industry or working directly with safety critical systemsIndustry practice in Systems Engineering tools and processes.Insatiable curiosity with a desire to navigate ambiguity and tackle complex challengesSelf-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one time.Proven ability to work effectively and collaborate in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment.Travel expected up to 10% of the timeAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Preferred Qualifications:Successful candidates will typically have 5-10 years of aerospace engineering experience.Experience in design, analysis, test, operation, and/or certification of aerospace safety critical systems.Experience supporting a project throughout all phases of the product development lifecycleExperience with software tools such as DOORS, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and WindchillExperience in reliability, maintainability and supportability definition and executionSystem Safety analysis experience including but not limited to FMECAs, FTAs, and FHAsBasic project management skills including labor estimating and schedule managementAdvanced technical degrees


 

Compensation Range for:

CA applicants is $120,060.00-$168,084.00;CO applicants is $110,055.00-$154,077.00;WA applicants is $120,060.00-$168,084.00

Other site ranges may differ

Paid Time Off:  Up to four (4) weeks per year based on weekly scheduled hours, and up to 14 company-paid holidays.

Discretionary bonus: Bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results.
