We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer\: Docking System Development and Integration to join the team
The Systems Engineer\: Docking System Development and Integration will\:
Provide insight to and oversight of tasks related to design, analysis, test, manufacturing, and operation of docking systems supporting Orion, Gateway, Human Landing System, and the International Space Station Learn and stay abreast of the details of the NASA Docking System Block 1 and/or Block 2, and/or other provider docking system designs as needed Review and provide feedback to commercial partner and international partner documentation on their vehicle design as pertains to development, installation and operation of the docking system Analyze partner and provider requirements to assess conflicts, gaps, and adequate flow down and decomposition of the NASA program requirements. Participate in design/test/certification reviews presented to NASA, identify issues in the form of detailed comments (or RIDs) to docking-system related documentation, and support development and implementation of resolution plans. Review and provide feedback to Docking-related Safety Hazard reports. Participate in the NASA safety panel reviews and work with providers to resolve identified concerns. Preparation and/or review of variances, exceptions and/or waivers to NASA requirements. Participate in a real-time flight support role requiring knowledge of docking system and vehicle operations, flight rules, and contingency procedures. This would also require training with a mission support team under various flight scenarios in the JSC Mission Control Center. Be responsible for the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans, products, and closures Prepare materials for system life cycle milestones, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and Hardware Acceptance Reviews, and Flight Readiness Reviews. Work with team members to identify risks, develop risk statements, and plan risk responses, including program level risks. Work with NASA and provider test and analyses teams to develop plans and procedures that align with requirement verification objectives and participate in troubleshooting and recovery from failures and anomalies. Review vendor submitted data, such as verification closure notices, and recommend NASA acceptance or provide comments to identify and resolve shortcomings. Coordinate with provider and NASA technical teams to ensure successful integration of GFE provided docking systems and/or successful docking between vehicles from dis-similar providers. Define interface requirements docking systems installed on vehicles as well as between docking vehicles and manage their implementation. Participate and/or lead working groups to resolve technical issues, requirement disconnects, facilitate changes, etc. Provide technical support to Program Office, Boards and Panel meetings. Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues. Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors. Travel as needed to other NASA centers and commercial partner facilities, international and domestic, in support of duties.
