Generac is seeking a **Systems Design & Integration Engineer II** with a strong understanding in Electronics. You will be part of our Clean Energy team, contributing to Generac’s expanding energy technologies. As a member of our team, you will help shape the direction of next generation renewable energy products at Generac. You should have a genuine passion for engineering products that will fundamentally change the world’s energy infrastructure and thrive working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
This role is based out of our Reno, NV office.
**Essential Duties & Responsibilities:**
+ Understand and drive solutions to discipline/product boundary challenges and define solutions in electrical/mechanical/firmware domains, such as: system I/O, PCBA familiarity and hands-on experience (design ideal), firmware state diagram definition, and industry compliance (UL 1547, 1741, 9540)
+ Create systems diagrams and various state machines at a multi-discipline level (electrical/mechanical/firmware/software) to create cohesive ecosystem in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
+ Organize (and challenge) requirements from compliance, product owners, executives, and engineering teams and drive full ecosystem definition. Approach design with a first-principles mindset.
+ Adapt Product Requirements into clear Engineering Design Requirements and ensure product is held to excellent standards. Collaborate across teams to identify product gaps.
+ Design and architect complex features with firmware, hardware, product, compliance teams. Tools for design can vary from Python for data analysis and mathematical modeling, PLECS or LTSpice for circuit-level as needed.
+ Embed into DVP&R with system test teams with an automation-focus.
+ Be a key contributor / driver of DFMEA to deliver risks and solutions bearing cost-analyses.
+ Ask questions and understand the ‘big picture’ to drive answers to open-ended questions for the team.
+ Share information quickly and know all the stakeholders on a program. Communicate effectively and articulate problems/solutions with precision.
**Minimal Qualifications:**
+ BS or MS in Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering
+ 1+ years of system design or integration experience on high volume products and 1+ years in an architect or technical product owner role.
+ Experience in PCB / system design and testing.
+ Hands-on experience and comfortable working safely in HV lab areas.
+ Comfortable with EE modeling tools such as LTSpice, MATLAB, PLECs.
+ Reasonable coding skills on Python. Comfortable understanding C.
+ Demonstrated excellence in communication.
**Physical Demands** : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
