Job Description

This position will be part of Visa's Platform Product & Technology architecture team and will be reporting to VP of architecture.

You will apply enterprise architecture principles that support the continued growth and success of Visa with a robust and cohesive architecture. You will help develop and enhance data strategy, data governance guideline and best practice across the organization.

You deeply understand the challenges of persistent layer in a distributed environment and balance the demand of agility and data quality to build a long-term maintainable end to end data ecosystem with consistency, availability, and scalability.

You understand scalability challenges and can design and develop horizontally scalable, resilient systems. You have experience with the challenges of large volume OLTP applications, database partitioning and performance tuning.

You possess strong interpersonal and effective communication (both written and verbal) skills and the ability to present complex ideas in a clear, concise way and ability to influence and develop relationships with key partners. e.g. DBA, infrastructure team.

 

Required experience:

Experience with logical and physical RDBMS data modelling in a distributed and active-active data environment.Familiar and experienced with Postgres or/and MySQL architecture, features and management.Experience with data access layer and replication tool e.g. Golden Gate, pglogical.Understand the issues and benefits of different replication approaches.Experience with NoSQL databases is a big plus.Experience with Hadoop ecosystem is a big plus.

 

Responsibilities:

Perform logical & physical data modeling using ERWin for RDBMS databases in a distributed and active-active environment.Work with operation and engineering teams to help with persistent layer design and database, replication related issues.Work with other Architects and product team or help with end-to-end data flow design using various ETL or near real time solutions.Enhance and promote data architecture standards and best practices.Research and POC new technology to provide more capabilities on the persistent layer.

 This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications
8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Computer Science or other technology field. Typically requires 10+ years of experience in delivering enterprise-class, mission-critical, commercial, and scalable products, at least 3 of which were in the role of an architect or a lead developer with deep familiarity with database technologies.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 143,200.00 to 207,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
