Systems Analysts III – PACS Imaging Analyst

SUMMARY
The PACS Analyst acts as a liaison between the Imaging Department and Information Services Department and provides day to day direction and support of PACS equipment image workflow analysis, archiving, auto routing, and prefetching and other related PACS activities. Works closely with Radiology operations managers to ensure timely and complete capture of digital image data into the PACS system, as well as, network transmission, RIS validation, and exception handling. Takes an active role in acquisition and implementation of new Imaging systems. Maintains positive relationships with respective vendors. The PACS Administrator reports to the IT Imaging Manager and has accountability to both the clinical and IT departments.

GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• As the PACS Application Analyst, you will be a member of the IT Imaging team responsible for the overall function of the Picture Archive and Communications System (PACS) including image workflow, archiving, auto routing, and prefetching and other related activities.

• The candidate acts as liaison between clinical operations managers to ensure timely and complete capture of DICOM digital image data into the PACS system as well as network transmission, RIS validation, and exceptions handling.

• Works effectively with Radiologists all departments within Radiology to continuously improve the workflow between the modalities, PACS, RIS voice recognition.

• Prioritizes, investigates and troubleshoots problems and questions pertaining to system applications, interfaces and data processing as appropriate. Solves the problem and/or helps determine correct measures to be taken toward the solution. Documents status of issues on a timely basis.

• Provides excellent customer support by communicating with customers in a prompt, courteous professional manner; evaluating problems in a timely manner and collecting all information required to solve the problem; monitors system performance.

• Oversees activities of vendors in all phases of installation and implementation of new systems.

• Helps in the preparation of reports for administration on all aspects of medical imaging operations as appropriate or directed.

• Attends and participates in both IT and clinical departmental meetings. Attends seminars and training sessions necessary to maintain appropriate level of professional competence.

• Ensures all department and IT guidelines are met for operation.

• Complies with health and safety requirements and with regulatory agencies such as DPH, etc.

• Complies with established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.

• Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, etc.
• Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and seminars as required or directed.

• Is able to take On Call support on a specified rotation.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

EDUCATION/LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent education, training or experience) in Business Administration orrelated discipline required.

EXPERIENCE
Three years’ experience supporting PACS systems in an ambulatory care environment with direct interaction with radiologists and technologists. Demonstrated knowledge of PACS applications, PACS server environments, network and DICOM. Experience with Fuji Synapse and Epic preferred.
