Systems Administrator JobID: 5916 + Position Type: Technology Support/ IT: Network/Systems Administrator + Date Posted: 9/16/2024 + Location: Central Office + Date Available: TBD    Job Summary:Systems Administrator performs administrative database management, problem-solving, statistical analysis, report writing, network troubleshooting and configuration, and maintenance related to the systems for Windham Public Schools(WPS). The position is responsible for overseeing aspects of the student information system(SIS), connected databases, servers, backups, and network. This position also performs other duties necessary to support WPS systems networks. This position reports to the Director of Information Technology.Illustrative Examples of work: + Installation, configuration of servers and switches, databases, and network equipment. + Write and generate SQL reports to support business needs. + Help implement and maintain data security measures to protect sensitive information. + Assist in the administration of Google Enterprise tools, Microsoft 365 and ERP systems. + Participate in the design and optimization of data-entry processes. + Support the development and implementation of process controls to ensure data quality. + Maintain documentation of database configurations, server configurations, and application settings. + Collaborate with team members to manage vendor relationships and evaluate third-party solutions. + Provide technical support and troubleshooting for data, server and network-related issues. + Assist in the administration and support of Powerschool, ensuring data accuracy and system functionality. + Performs duties as assigned by Director of Information Technology. Knowledge, Skills, and Capacities: + Basic understanding of database concepts, including SQL. + Familiarity with data screening, cleaning, and validation techniques. + Knowledge of ETL processes and tools. + Basic understanding of data security principles and practices. + Basic understanding of Google Enterprise management. + Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. + Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining data quality. + Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. + Understanding of networking concepts such as isids, vlans, and QoS. + Experience working with a NAC. + Relevant certification(s) (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, Google Workspace Administrator, Security+, Network+) is a plus. + Eagerness to learn and grow and be part of a collaborative team. Qualifications: + Bachelor's Degree Desired + Minimum (5) years related experience + A combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the responsibilities of this position may be considered in the lieu of stated education and experience requirements. + This position experience with database management, SQL scripting, technology support including network troubleshooting and some end user application support. Experience in an educational environment is preferred. Strong communication skills required, i.e. must be capable of effectively presenting information, conducting user training, user application support and responding to questions from all levels of the organization.
