At TI, System Engineers work to identify ideal roadmap opportunities for a business and are responsible for defining new products and platforms based on market opportunity. To do this, they leverage strong technical knowledge of our existing portfolio, deep understanding of the technologies, standards and protocols within an industry or end equipment, and an ability to engage with customers and translate their requirements into technical specifications that will solve their problems. Systems engineers also partner closely with marketing and applications engineers, as well as design teams, to ensure our roadmap is both meeting customer and market requirements and is technically optimized and manufacturable at a price and cost point that makes sense for the business.
This is a great opportunity to be part of a Kilby Labs advanced R&D team where you work directly on these breakthrough technologies. You will directly contribute to continue cutting edge solutions to some of the semiconductor industry's most pressing needs, ex: Datacenter power delivery. In this system engineer role, you’ll have the chance to:
+ Lead cutting edge R&D projects that have a direct impact on the businesses in TI. Help imagine, define, create and collaborate with the business groups find high value innovations that solve challenging problems.
+ Development of highly differentiated power circuits for Power Management Regulators or controllers
+ Competitive benchmarking and tracking latest research in the domain of innovative power management architecture and circuits
+ Balancing innovation with execution - to ensure that the IPs are demonstrated in silicon in a timely manner
+ Working in close collaboration with Process, Packaging, BU partners and other Kilby team members
+ Supporting the technology transfer and productization of the innovative IPs developed by the team
+ Industry champion/liaison of university research projects in the area of power management
+ Interface and lead discussions with the customer and/or TI field sales/field applications teams to understand customer designs, problems and support as required
Base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. Your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. The base pay range for this role is shown below.
Pay Range: $155,000 - $234,000 per year

**Minimum requirements:**
+ PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with emphasis on Power Electronic Systems
+ Minimum Cumulative 3.5/4.0 GPA
+ Detailed understanding of DC-DC Isolated and non-isolated power converter topologies, soft switching techniques and Power Devices.
+ Understanding of mixed signal integrated circuit design targeting power management is a plus
+ Strong knowledge of high frequency magnetics design for power electronics
+ Familiarity with EM simulation software ( like HFSS) for magnetics design
+ Excellent knowledge of control theory, closed loop compensation, stability analysis, phase margin, etc
+ Experience with circuit modeling and simulation tools (e.g. Simplis, PSpice etc.) required
+ Proficiency with standard lab equipment
+ Printed circuit board design experience is a must
+ Knowledge of System Packaging or Power Module is a plus
+ Proven track record as a strong team player

+ Exceptional creative intuition for power electronics topologies and systems
+ Demonstrated written communications skills through primary authorship of scientific journal and conference papers
+ Ability to work with multiple cross functional teams to make the right trade-offs on system level performance
+ Ability to establish strong relationships with key stakeholders critical to success, both internally and externally
+ Strong time management skills that enable on-time project delivery
