We are seeking talented, motivated, and creative Systems Engineers to join our team. As a key member of the Amazon Pharmacy Engineering team, you will build and manage systems that enhance our ability to deliver safe, timely, and reliable pharmacy services. You’ll work in a highly collaborative environment, tackling complex problems at the intersection of healthcare, cloud computing, and operations.

Key job responsibilities
What You’ll Do
A successful Systems Engineer at Amazon Pharmacy will go beyond managing tools and infrastructure. You will:
- Automate and Scale Operations: Design and implement system management tools and processes to reduce manual efforts, enhance reliability, and scale operations to meet the needs of a growing customer base.
- Develop Operability Features: Define hardware requirements and build features such as system health monitoring, diagnostics, and automated repair mechanisms to ensure high availability and performance.
- Enhance System Security: Collaborate with security teams to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and safeguard sensitive customer data.
- Optimize Infrastructure: Adapt and refine existing systems to accommodate rapid growth in customer traffic, orders, and prescription data.
- Production Readiness: Participate in design reviews, production acceptance tests, and operational evaluations for new systems and features.
- Monitor and Maintain: Monitor system health, address anomalies, and automate routine maintenance tasks to minimize downtime.
- Capacity Planning: Manage fleet inventory, maintain capacity plans, and ensure the scalability of critical pharmacy services.
- Dive Deep: Be a subject matter expert for the systems that support Amazon Pharmacy’s operations, troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
- Experience in systems engineering, infrastructure management, or DevOps roles.
- Demonstrated proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash, Python, C, C++, Java or Ruby
- Strong experience in delivering operational workloads hosted on Linux/Unix
- Good working knowledge/experience on highly distributed remote environment, networking, software build and deployment process.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with supporting and administrate customer care systems such as CRM, remote phone center is a plus
- Familiarity with healthcare compliance standards (e.g., HIPAA) is a plus.
- Experience with Amazon Connect is a plus
- Strong customer focus, ownership, urgency and drive
- Familiar with the challenges surrounding efficient operations and failure mode analysis in large complex distributed systems
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s leadership principles requirements for this role
- Meets/exceeds Amazon’s functional/technical depth and complexity for this role
