Job Summary
This position requires mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity, the ability to communicate effectively,
follow instructions, use hand and powers tools, read blueprints, perform calculations using fractions and
decimals, the ability to climb and work on elevated structures or confined spaces, operate test equipment
and computers. The individual must have extensive experience and demonstrate the ability to operate
heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, and excavators. Individual must have a CDL-A license with
a valid medical card, no endorsements required. Performs work under supervision.
Starting Rate of Pay: $40.33 per hour
Regular Duties:
Individuals will perform statewide general construction tasks and maintenance services for Line
Departments, Transmission and Distribution substations and Area Work Centers. Tasks may include but
are not limited to performing rough and finish carpentry, building concrete structures with associated
excavation work, concrete form work, installation of reinforcing bar, pouring, and finishing concrete,
repairing concrete, fabricating, and installing steel structures, rigging, erecting staging (scaffolding),
performs acetylene cutting and non-certified welding, installs conduits and grounding systems, performs
roofing, interior/exterior painting of equipment and structures, demolish structures and foundations, cable fault excavating and secondary cable fault locating, snow plowing, sitework and associated grading, oil spills clean up, landscaping and will have storm restoration and emergency assignments.
Infrequent Duties:
Assists Electricians and Communication and Control. Performs the duties of lower rated jobs within the
job progression and performs other duties as assigned.
Equipment:
Construction equipment used includes but not limited to, backhoes, front end loaders, excavators, dump
trucks with trailer, pickup trucks, utility trucks, LD/HD Bucket Trucks, air compressors, pneumatic tools,
pneumatic hammers/pavement breakers, compactors, pavement/concrete saws, chain saw, pumps, hand
and power tools, winches, scaffolding, pipe threading, crimping tools, ladders, secondary fault locating
equipment and test equipment, welding equipment, concrete mixers, line level and laser transit, and
various rental equipment.
Source of Direction:
Normal: Working Foreman, System Construction
Infrequent: Supervisor, Engineer, Working Foreman Electrical, Working Foreman Communication and
Control.
Education:
A high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
