The Applications Engineer - Regulatory Affairs will act as an influential conduit between Trane Technologies’ controls business and that of federal, state, and local entities to ensure products comply with new regulations relative to building automation and HVAC controls. The selected candidate will work hand in hand with product management, engineering, sales, and fulfillment to shape product and investment decisions based on regulatory outcomes. This person will bring strong project management practices, understanding of the HVAC regulatory landscape, and a fundamental understanding of HVAC controls and building automation. The selected candidate will possess strong analytical skills that enables him/her to make timely and data-informed decisions.

Due to the nature of this role, this position has been designated as a Hybrid work schedule, with work performed onsite 3 days each week.
What you will do:
Engage with key industry associations to represent Trane and our customers' needs in the development of industry standards and guidelines.Monitor emerging trends regarding industry regulations to determine potential impacts on organizational processes.Communicate regulatory information to multiple stakeholders to ensure that information is understood, and business impacts are assessed.Track current and proposed regulatory requirements, quantify business risks, and ensure inclusion in product development roadmaps.Coordinate reviews with subject matter experts and develop strategy for proposed standards and guidelines.Prepare and review the submission of regulatory agency applications, reports, or correspondence.Maintain current knowledge of relevant regulations, including proposed and final rules.Collaborate with engineering teams to evaluate concept feasibility and resolve technical issues.Provide commercialization support, specializing in field office operations.Author and/or review Engineering Bulletins, Application guides, Best Practices, Project Specifications, etc.Present and instruct technical topics to internal and external audiences.Participate in customer visits and field events (seminars, shows, etc.).What you will bring:
BS degree Required: BS Engineering or other technical degree preferred5+ years significant experience in building systems operation, design, and/or supportDemonstrated understanding of HVAC systems, controls, and industry associations including ASHRAE, and AHRI.Key Competencies:
Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and present technical information (oral and written) to technical and non-technical users.Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authoritySound project management, analysis, problem resolution, teambuilding, judgment, and decision-making skillsMust be able to travel up to 20% of the time (some periods of more frequent travel can be expected)Ability to work regularly, dependably, independently, and in a team environmentCompensation:Base Pay Range: $110,000 - $140,000.
Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan.
