System Admin/Database AdministratorAbout the role:
DUAL North America, Inc. is seeking a System Admin/Database Administrator to join the Dallas, TX team. The System Admin/DBA position requires a combination of administration of Windows and LINUX server operating systems, server hardware, VMWare platforms, and Azure and SQLServer databases. The position will work with application development and business teams under the direction and guidance of the Lead System Admin/DBA. Knowledge of database architecture, configuration, and administration practices is required. Also required are strong technical and analytical skills to review operation and load associated with the company application databases, identify long running queries and inefficiencies in stored procedures and reports, and recommend solutions to rectify the issues. The DBA responsibilities will include support of the Azure data warehouse. The System Admin portion of this role will involve all LINUX and Windows operating system administration including maintaining the upgrade and patching schedules for the hardware platforms.

Essential Functions:
• Maintain SQLServer databases within the company from a database administration, performance, redundancy/resiliency, and security standpoint
• Serve as system administrator for Windows and LINUX operating systems
• Maintain upgrade schedules for server operating systems and database systems
• Work with other Infrastructure team members and the Lead DBA on installation and use of database and server monitoring tools, including regular reporting on stability and performance
• Communicate regularly with team members on all database and server related initiatives and support issues
Job Requirements (education, experience, skills):
• College degree or equivalent in computer science, database administration, computer engineering, or related field
• 2-5 years of experience as a systems administrator of hardware and operating systems
• 2-5 years of experience as a database administrator
• Strong understanding of database architecture and the SQLServer database platform
• Strong understanding of Windows and LINUX operating systems
• Understanding of PowerShell and other scripting and automation technologies
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Industry standard certifications a plus
• Detail oriented with the objective of delivering a solution to a problem in a timely and efficient manner
• Ability to work in a team environment and with both IT and business team members
• Self-driven, able to take initiative when an opportunity arises, always looking for continuous improvement
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proficient with standard workstation software used in business environments (MS Word, Excel, Visio, etc.)
