System Accountant
Summary
Apply basic principles of accounting (GAAP) to prepare and maintain records of financial transactions. Analyze and interpret financial information. Compute, classify, record, and audit financial data while ensuring appropriate accounting & financial reporting controls. Maintain ledgers and supporting documentation for transactions and work in a variety of different accounting functions. Examine, analyze and interpret accounting records for management. Provide high quality support service to all levels of management.
Responsibilities
· Apply accounting techniques, regulations and standard practices to the classification and recording of financial information.
· Maintain a thorough understanding of the company’s accounting & financial reporting and other applicable policies as they relate to financial reporting and accounting work assignments.
· Remain knowledgeable of events, regulations, and transactions which may have an impact on the financial reporting of the respective companies and/or specific duties assigned (i.e. 1099 and W-2 tax law, sales and use tax law, unclaimed property law, payroll tax law, etc.).
· Accumulate, audit, process, and maintain detailed records for each respective entity which accurately reflects its financial position.
· Prepare supporting spreadsheets and account analysis as required. Meeting timelines and resolving discrepancies.
· Prepare tax returns (local, state, federal) such as Sales and Use Tax, W-2's, 1099's, etc. including preparation of supporting schedules and reconciliation to the general ledger.
· Participate in the internal and/or external audit process as required.
· Work with and respond to all internal and external customer needs in a timely manner.
· Complete special projects and assignments from the Controller, Assistant Controller, Managing Accountants, Accounting Coordinator, and Accounting Specialists as assigned.

The employee must possess/obtain (by the end of the orientation period) and demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide developmentally appropriate assessment, treatment or care as defined by the department’s identified patient ages. Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients.

Education
Essential:
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting
Demonstrated knowledge and ability to apply generally
accepted accounting principles (GAAP),
taxation practices, and strong
understanding of internal control practices.
Substitution: Bachelor's Degree in
related field with 3 years related accounting experience
(preferably in healthcare) OR Associate’s Degree in
Accounting plus 4 years related accounting experience (preferably in healthcare) may substitute
for Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
