SVP Financial Crimes Detection Analytics

Financial Crime (FC) Detection analytics is a sub function of Group Risk and Compliance. It is responsible for analytical controls covering design, development, implementation, optimisation, and validation of models. The team’s mandate is to identify FC risks, new trends, management information, forecasts, and recommend methodology amendments primarily for non-Regulatory purposes, whose activities may also support regulatory supervision and policy development.

As our SVP Financial Crimes Detection Analytics you will:

Be responsible for managing a team of data scientists and model developers to design automated rules to identify potential money laundering activity utilizing AI concepts and data analysis with analytical softwareHelp build prediction models that can efficiently and effectively predict FC activity. Solutions that are scalable to potentially help the integration of models globallyBe responsible for delivery of major global or regional projects and productivity tool development within Financial Crime RiskServe as a subject matter expert and liaison between the business units, departments, application systems and outside organizations in defining business systems requirements, processes, procedures, and practices to implement changes to increase the efficiency of the assigned business unitsUnderstand and create data flows structures, customer segmentation models, Transaction Monitoring model design and other analytics supportProvide analytics support of data integrity required for testing of new systemsDocument and evidence compliance with the Office of the Comptroller and Currency (OCC) mandated regulatory guidelines to internal model validator, external regulators, and risk stewards

For this role, HSBC targets a pay range between $138,400.00 and $207,600.00

The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

Experience operating in a technically complex environment, requiring an elevated level of expertise in data analysis and modeling in a variety of programming languagesHave an understanding or experience handling large databases on-Premises and Cloud based platforms such as Google Cloud Platform (GCP), AWS or AzureBachelor’s degree or equivalent at minimum; graduate degree a plus with over 8 years of experience in data analysis and/or application developmentProficiency in data analytics tools and software such as SQL, Python, R, SAS, or Tableau which is crucial for extracting insights from large datasetsUnderstanding of Advanced statistical methods/functionsUnderstanding of Supervised and Unsupervised Machine Learning concepts: Regression Analysis, Generalized Linear Models, Decision Trees, SVM, K-means clustering, Hierarchical clustering, LLM, etcDemonstrate analytical thinking, sound judgment, critical analysis, attention to detail and provide value-added advice to and oversight of indirect reports on teamHave a good knowledge of Risk Management frameworks, with a focus on Non-Financial Risk Management, ideally with Anti-Money Laundering experience or understanding of AML Compliance monitoring system platformsProficient in Microsoft Office applications and demonstrates an innovative and proactive approach to building new and advanced MI and reporting analytics
