SVP, Data Science Job Overview
As the Senior Vice President, Data Science, you will be a visionary leader responsible for defining and advancing the organization’s data science strategy. This role combines cutting-edge data science expertise with a focus on applied analytics, team leadership, and the creation of innovative data-driven solutions. You will oversee the development and execution of data strategies that enable business transformation, drive revenue growth, and position the agency as a leader in data innovation and governance.
PLEASE NOTE: This is a hybrid position requiring onsite collaboration. The role will be based out of our office located in New York City. All candidates must be willing to commute into the office on a regular basis.
Position Overview
Strategic Leadership & Team Growth
+ Develop and communicate a forward-thinking vision for data science, aligning with the organization’s business objectives and growth strategies.
+ Build, mentor, and inspire a high-performing data science team, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence.
+ Drive cross-functional alignment by partnering with executive leadership, technology, and operational teams to integrate data insights into organizational strategies and decision-making processes.
+ Create and execute strategies for scaling the agency’s data capabilities, expanding service offerings, and driving top- and bottom-line growth through data-driven solutions.
Modern Data Science Applications
+ Lead the implementation of advanced data science tools and frameworks, including machine learning (ML), artificial intelligence (AI), and natural language processing (NLP) for real-time decision-making and predictive analytics.
+ Drive applied data science initiatives to enhance campaign performance, optimize media spend, and personalize customer experiences (e.g., next-best-action recommendations, dynamic segmentation).
+ Champion the development of proprietary algorithms and methodologies to differentiate the agency in the market and create new business opportunities.
Data Governance and Quality Ownership
+ Establish and oversee robust data governance frameworks to ensure compliance with privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) and protect data integrity.
+ Define and enforce data quality standards, implementing processes for data accuracy, consistency, and security across all systems and workflows.
+ Act as the primary advocate for ethical data usage and responsible AI deployment, ensuring transparency in data practices.
Advanced Analytics and Innovation
+ Lead the creation and deployment of advanced analytical models, integrating cutting-edge techniques like deep learning, reinforcement learning, and generative AI to unlock new business insights.
+ Drive innovation by identifying emerging data science trends, tools, and technologies, positioning the agency to remain ahead of the curve.
+ Partner with product, innovation, and technology teams to design and launch data-driven tools and platforms, establishing proprietary solutions as a competitive advantage.
Technology Infrastructure and Applied Data Science
+ Collaborate with IT, engineering, and technology teams to ensure scalable and resilient data infrastructure, including cloud-based platforms, data lakes, and modern analytics tools (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks, AWS).
+ Define and manage first-party data strategies, working with Applied Intelligence and Legal teams to ensure privacy compliance and maximize the value of owned datasets.
+ Leverage automation tools and advanced visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Looker) to create actionable reporting and performance insights for internal teams and clients.
Business Impact and Data-Driven Culture
+ Identify opportunities to solve complex business challenges using data, ensuring alignment with client needs and organizational priorities.
+ Develop frameworks for measuring the ROI of analytics and data initiatives, tying outcomes directly to business performance metrics.
+ Promote a culture of data literacy and empower internal teams to harness data insights effectively.
Core Responsibilities
+ Team Leadership: Build and scale a team of data scientists, analysts, engineers, and product managers capable of supporting large-scale, complex client initiatives.
+ Product Development: Oversee the integration of data science into proprietary product offerings, ensuring alignment with strategic business goals.
+ Client Partnerships: Act as a thought leader, presenting data science strategies and innovations to clients and industry stakeholders.
+ Growth Strategies: Identify and pursue revenue-generating opportunities, both through new client acquisition and upselling/cross-selling data-driven solutions.
Key Qualifications
+ Proven track record in leading and scaling data science teams in a fast-paced, agency, or technology environment.
+ Expertise in applied data science techniques, including supervised and unsupervised learning, deep learning, and AI applications.
+ Hands-on experience with data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Databricks), programming languages (e.g., Python, R, SQL), and ML/AI tools (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
+ Strong understanding of data governance, regulatory compliance, and ethical considerations in AI and analytics.
+ Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data concepts into actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders.
+ Leadership acumen, with a demonstrated ability to grow teams, cultivate talent, and foster innovation.
Salary range: $210,000 - $240,000
The salary range provided represents what a potential hire may expect to earn in this role at BGB. Actual salary decisions will be influenced by several factors that we use to determine overall fit, including experience (both direct and indirect), education, training, demonstrated qualifications, and organizational need. Salary is only one component of the total rewards package offered at BGB Group.
