Survey Entry Level Field Technician

Job Summary
AKS Engineering & Forestry (AKS) has an immediate opening for a full-time survey technician for our Vancouver, Washington office. You will work closely with project surveyors, survey crews, project engineers, and project managers on a mixture of private and public works projects. This is an entry-level position that provides the opportunity to learn on-the-job and build your career with a respected and talented team of professionals in a dynamic organization.
Ideal Candidate Qualifications
+ BS in civil engineering, forest engineering, geomatics, or related field is preferred. A minimum of a high school diploma/GED is required.
+ Some experience in land surveying is preferred, but a background in forestry, wildland fire fighting, or farm-related work will be considered. No experience is required as AKS will provide the training.
+ Must be able to start work at 6:00 am and work overtime as needed to meet project deadlines.
+ Willing to start at the bottom with opportunities to develop your skills, with advancement possibilities either in the field or in the office.
+ Must have valid OR or WA driver's license and a clean driving record.
+ Assumes personal responsibility for completing quality work.
+ Ability to follow direction, work quickly, and meet deadlines.
+ Eager and willing to learn.
+ Must be safety conscious.
+ Ability to work as part of a team.
Job Functions & Responsibilities
Working under the direction of the Survey Crew Leader:
+ Perform physically demanding work including packing heavy survey equipment, pounding hubs, and brush-cutting sight lines.
+ Train in the operation of survey instruments, automated electronic data collection, calculators, GPS equipment, and other specialized equipment.
+ Learn AKS procedures for field work for boundary, construction staking, and site map/topography surveys.
+ Operate Trimble Robotic total stations, GN22 Receivers, and TSC3 Data collectors.
+ Assist with data collection using unmanned aerial systems (UAS).
+ Follow company safety protocols including state, federal, and site-specific regulations.
+ Adhere to AKS workflows, standards, safety protocols, and procedures.
+ Work in adverse weather conditions and difficult terrain.
+ Occasionally travel out of town/overnight when needed.
+ Do what needs to be done.
