Overview:
An experienced Survey Crew Chief will participate in survey projects throughout New Jersey in both a two-person and a one-person robotic field crew.
The successful candidate will be an individual with the vision and drive to apply state-of-the-art technologies and methodologies to a wide range of land surveying and geospatial projects. The crew chief will collect field measurements and data and provide stake-out at the direction of the Survey Project Manager or office technician. They will also be responsible for collecting all required field data for the preparation of a variety of surveying projects for both public and private clients utilizing robotic total stations, GNSS/GPS, and/or Lidar scanning. On larger projects, the position will also include some supervisory responsibilities.
The successful candidate must possess general knowledge of land surveying principles and practices; must be able to perform under the direction of the Project Surveyor and coordinate the activities of the field crew; and performs other duties, including overseeing the effective performance and safety of all members of the field crew, use of equipment, and field safety procedures. In addition, must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with our staff and the general public.
Responsibilities:
Use established workflows and procedures to lead field crew procedures.Assist in developing proper field procedures, accurate calculations, and note-taking, and was responsible for product quality and accuracy.Responsible for daily crew procedures and adherence to project requirements.Collect data for accurate DTM and surface models.Ensure timeliness of survey data collection.Responsible for field data management and distribution of survey data.Oversee the use of field survey equipment, including software and hardware updates.Responsible for setting up temporary traffic control and ensuring crew safety.Responsible for daily download of survey dataProvide daily job hazard briefings and any required reportsWillingness to travel out of town and other states is a plus but not required.Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent with 4+ years of experience as a Crew Chief.Boundary, right-of-way, and topographic surveying experienceAbility to perform field calculations and understanding of processing software a plusOrganizational skills for data, field notes, and equipment
