Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled Survey Crew Chief who will play a crucial role in completing assigned tasks by communicating effectively with team members and interacting professionally with the public, clients, and contractors. The individual will read and apply information from civil engineering plans, boundary surveys, and related documents, and will operate and instruct the use of digital total stations, automatic levels, and GNSS receivers. The role involves conducting various types of land surveying including ALTA, boundary, elevation, and topography construction staking.
ResponsibilitiesCommunicate effectively with team members to complete assigned tasks.Interact professionally with the public, clients, and contractors while performing duties.Read and apply information from civil engineering plans, boundary surveys, and related documents.Operate and instruct the use of digital total stations, automatic levels, and GNSS receivers.Conduct different types of land surveying: ALTA, boundary, elevation, and topography construction staking.Essential SkillsAt least 5 years of relevant work experience in land surveying.Strong knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, interpolation, and extrapolation.Proficient in Microsoft Office and Trimble Access software.Experienced in operating Trimble TSC7 Survey Controller, Trimble S6 (or similar) total station, Trimble R8/R12i GNSS receiver, and analog automatic level.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED.Preferred experience with Adobe Acrobat Reader and Adobe Acrobat DC.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritization skills.Work Environment
This position offers a dynamic work environment with a family-like culture that encourages growth and collaboration. The role is primarily field-based, with 90% of the time spent on-site and the remaining 10% in the office due to weather constraints. Travel is local or within Northwest Indiana, and the individual will be based in the office closest to their home, with locations available in Itasca, Frankfort, South Holland, Bourbonnais, Monee, and Merrillville, Indiana. A company vehicle is provided, allowing direct travel to site each day. The position is stable with no layoffs during winter, and the work area extends from the Wisconsin border to Minooka, east into Porter County, Indiana, south to Iroquois County in Illinois, and includes a project in Oswego.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $74880.00 - $95680.00/yr.
