This role is being established to play a lead role in the coordination of surgery scheduling activities for the General Otolaryngology and Rhinology services. This will include surgery scheduling for four fulltime surgeons operating at numerous facilities throughout Hampton Roads.
The position will be primarily house at the office located inside of Norfolk General Hospital with additional time and effort spent at other ENT offices as needed.
ResponsibilitiesFacilitate seamless communication and coordination between surgeons, patients and referring offices.
Responsible for efficiently coordinating surgeries in a high-volume surgical practice.
Schedule surgeries, ensuring optimal utilization of surgical suites and resources.
Coordinate with patients, providing clear pre-operative instructions and addressing inquiries related to the referral process.
Collaborate with medical staff to gather and organize patient medical records, ensuring accurate and comprehensive documentation.
Manage the referral process from initiation to post operative follow up, ensuring timely and effective communication at each stage.
Coordinate with insurance providers to obtain necessary authorizations for surgeries.
Track and maintain accurate records of surgical schedules, ensuring alignment with practice protocols.
Assist in the development and implementation of efficient referral workflows to enhance practice productivity.
Qualificationsone (1) year of professional office/clerical experience is highly desirable. Experience performing related functions in a medical practice is strongly preferred. Previous front desk customer service experience will be considered. Professional, customer service-oriented individual is required.
