Conemaugh Physician Group is seeking a full-time Surgical Scheduler for CPG Cardiology in Johnstown, PA. The Scheduler is responsible for coordinating patient’s surgical procedures and testings, contacting insurance companies for approvals and ensuring that appropriate contacts are made to complete the process. Under the direction of the Practice Manager, is responsible for performing secretarial and general office duties, including, but not limited to, answering phones, maintenance of medical records, supply inventory, tabulation of surgical statistics, and support of Cardiology operations, in a physician’s office to meet the needs of the patient and medical staff. Interacts with all age groups according to their age and developmental needs.

*Essential Responsibilities:*
Surgery Scheduling – responsible for scheduling all surgical procedures for all physicians within the practice.
Responsible for notifying Centralized Scheduling with all surgical procedures dates with any special instructions as applicable.
Responsible for obtaining correct CPT and ICD10 codes prior to obtaining authorizations for surgical procedures.
Will work with coding/billing staff to ensure that appropriate coding procedures are gathered.
Responsible for ensuring that appropriate consents are completed for surgical procedures, copied for office records and submitted to
appropriate contactsat hospital and/or office.
Responsible for ensuring that patient’s insurance is active and eligible for date of surgery.
Responsible for contacting insurance companies and obtaining authorizations for all surgical procedures being performed.
Authorizations must be obtained prior to surgical procedure being performed.
Responsible for notifying operating rooms, ASU, Centralized Scheduling and insurance companies when there are changes in procedure and/or
dates.
Responsible for Scheduling all Patient testing – MRIs, CT scans, etc. within a 24-hour period.
Responsible for obtaining authorizations for all patient testing – MRIs, CT scans prior to patient having testing performed.
Responsible for scheduling Pre-Testing through Centralized Scheduling and working with patients for all pre-testing information.
Communicate with Physicians, Practice Manager and clinical staff when appropriate paperwork, authorizations, and/or consents are not
complete prior toprocedures being performed.
Answering all incoming phone calls in a courteous manner.
Returns all phone calls same day before leaving for the day.
Continually strives to identify areas of cost containment by monitoring supplies and equipment.
Obtaining Statistics as requested by Practice Manger.
Attends assigned and/or scheduled in-service education meetings and staff meetings.
Promotes an environment that is conducive to employee and patient safety.
Must be flexible with workload, schedule and location to meet the department volume demands.
Maintains confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
Maintenance of office equipment in good operational order.
Assisting with the front desk duties, if workload permits.
Understanding and obtaining insurance authorizations for patient x-rays, labs, MRIs and all testing, when required by patient’s insurance plan.
Use of the insurance companies’ websites, i.e. Navinet, UPMC, etc. system for insurance authorization verification.
Understanding and complying with office policies as outlined in the Policy Manual.
Assisting Device Coordinator with pacer clinics and procedure scheduling.

*Required:*High School Graduate or equivalent.
*Preferred:*Graduate of an approved medical secretary school.

One to two years' experience in a physician office setting.
Individual must have strong clinical skills, be proficient with medical terminology.

Experience with EPIC Electronic Health Record.
Experience with Word and Excel.
